You bring up a good point. I always thought it was the heaviness of the K3 that caused the my hands to lock up but now I have my Kindle fire I know that is not the case. It's the same size but thicker and heavier and I can hold it just fine for a long time.

Assuming that the replacement I requested has less 'ghosting' than the one I'll be returning, I'm down to two things I hope Amazon will deliver in an update:
1- landscape viewing
2 - 'internationalization' features of K4
3 - improvements to text selection to allow adjustment after initial selection, extension to adjacent pages

You can set the "blackflash" (screen refresh) back to every page. From the Home screen, hit Menu > Settings > Reading Options and set Page Refresh to On.

Obviously, that won't fix the other problems you mention, but at least one is correctable.

And my own fingers are a distraction with a reading light, so I get that one; I hate shadows and they do cast one. But I'm getting used to that, and for me, it's a minor issue. I've been reading for the last year mostly on the iPad though, so a touch screen is now far more intuitive and "natural" to me.

Confirmed some hidden commands on Kindle Touch as usual like Kindle2/3

Please hit ;311 into "Tap to search" box with software keyboard, then you will be able to change carrier you like. Another commands also does work.

;411 Device Info
;611 3G Connectivity Info
;711 WIFI Network Info

Thanks for the tip on the screen refresh. Much better, but yes, I still think that the KK/K3 is a better reader. Now the thick bezel is irritating me. Picky picky picky

As for shadows and lights - I know of a light that doesn't cast finger shadows, but spam rules prevent me from self-promoting

Is there a list of all touch actions when one is reading a book in my KT? I know sliding a finger up/down seems to jump up/down a chapter., but is there a comprehensive list available? The Kindle manual in the amazon site doesn't have anything else to say.

Is there a way to set the time and date on an unregistered Touch ? In the Setting page 2 and 3 do not show up. I am reluctant to register or connect to Wifi as I don't want the ads. Thanx

Sorry, it is a copyrighted document so I can't upload it for you. Can you ask Amazon tech support? I assume you don't have a Kindle Touch which is why you are asking.
