Wow - going on quite a Wilkie Collins marathon! But there's no need to do a separate post for each book - you can just do them all in one post.

Next: Sirronde's World 3: Parting Gifts by Diane Duane What happened to part 2, you ask? I can only think that the rights haven't reverted yet from wherever it was first published.

Just Finished: - A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin - fantastic. Can't wait to read the next book but I'm going to finish "1Q84" first. Also, I know the next two books in the series ("A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons") take place concurrently, and I found a chapter sequence for one long megabook, so I'll be reading both books at the same time. That way I don't have to wait 1000 pages to find out what happened to my favorite characters. Currently reading: - The Land of Mist by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (42%) - 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami (35%) - Analog Science Fiction and Fact Jan/Feb '12 (27%) eBooks I will be reading as soon as I finish these: - 11/22/63 by Stephen King - The Night Eternal by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan - A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin - God, No: Signs You May Already Be an Atheist and Other Magical Tales by Penn Jillette - The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes Novel by Anthony Horowitz eBooks I'm on the waiting list for at my library: - Plugged by Eoin Colfer |

Well.. I finished _Eye of the Needle_ by Ken Follett. My introduction to Follett was with _The Pillars of the Earth_ which is one of my favorite books. Eye of the Needle is a World War II spy novel with a plausible story line. It reads well and has plenty of action. About half way through I didn't want to put it down. I usually don't read books this fast but I just wanted to find out what happened here. I rated it 4 of 5 stars on LibraryThing. My next read is _The Help_. I hope it lives up to the reviews. BOb |

I'm still reading Ready Player One. I'm not really feeling it at the moment. I was growing up in the 80s and I like the references but I dunno, it's not grabbing me. I'll persevere a bit longer though.

Just finished Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont by Elizabeth Taylor. A beautiful whimsical mix of arch British humor, comedy of manners, observations on aging - which can veer in a sentence from laugh-out-loud comedy to black comedy to tears. If you like Barbara Pym's novels, you'll enjoy Elizabeth Taylor's works. N.B. The Kindle edition was obviously NOT proof-read. There are OCR errors (most annoyingly - numbers substituted for letters) and line spaces omitted within a chapter when the narrative shifts between different characters - very disconcerting. |

As for me, currently between books. It's end of semester crunch time and everything I'm actually reading is basically course-related lookup. But I do have a backlog of Stross, Hambly, and maybe some Alan Dean Foster fantasies which I intend to make my way through once I've some more leisure time. I should go load up a few more short story collections on the Kindle for quickie break reading at the bus stop.

Guess I did this wrong last time. Finished Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence and rated it 5 stars. Actually, I think it's the best fantasy book of 2011. Also just finished and Beyond Shadows by Brent Weeks and I would rate that four stars. Currently reading Sanderson's Mistborn and Sam Sykes - Tome of the Undergates.
