I haven't received my DXG yet, but since I would like to upgrade to the 3.+ firmware (even if it is a hack) I was wondering if the hacked firmware has any known bugs? What does not work as it should?

- waking up from the sleep mode takes between 10 and 15 seconds
- pages in the web browser are occasionally shown in 800 x 600 (have not used web browsing at all, so can not say anything)
- cracking sound (installing the mplayer could be a solution)

I have never ever encountered the browser bug. In fact as the browser in kindle firmwares 3.x.x is much better, browsing is actually more fun than before. I agree with the other bugs though.

Apps work on the DX. I have games, notebook, and a few others.

My DX arrived yesterday, and it's really quite nice. I am especially happy as my Octovo Solis light for the K2 fits well on it, and illuminates the screen nicely. Now I am contemplating what kind of cover to get.

Glad you got it. Care to compare it to M90? What are your first thoughts?

I love my Oberon Cover for the DXG although it does add a good amount of weight.

Mine will be here Wednesday. I was looking at covers at Amazon.com and they don't have much at all.

Since instructions are not very clear to me on how to update firmware hack, and it affects sound quality (noise) I hope the firmware DX comes with will be good enough. What do you think of the page turns and have you loaded books via Amazon personal documents?

I kind of think the DX is a bit overpriced compared to the other kindles though.

First post here. Just got my DX today, ordered it after I saw the price drop to $259. I own a Sony 950 and I consider it fantastic expect for one area; PDF books. Specifically I do software and database development and reading PDF versions of development books on the smaller screen is... not so great.

I've loaded up a couple of technical books on the DX and its exactly what I was hoping for. Books are clear, code samples are easy to read, and inline graphics/pictures are actually legible. Its like having a proper, full size book to read.

I wasn't sure if Amazon had addressed earlier complaints about file organization I'd read about, but sure enough I can create collections and move books around so no issues there. Overall I'm completely happy with this reader for my intended use.

By all accounts it looks like Amazon isn't going to continue with the DX, and no other company has a comparably sized eReader in the US. So if anyone is considering a DX for PDF book reading, I'd say get one sooner than later. Its a huge step up from the typical 6" screen. I own an iPad as well but have never liked using it as a reader. The low pixel density and bright backlit screen just don't cut it.

My first thought is: Look! It's not frozen!

Seriously. My M90 freezes every time it goes to sleep. The battery is dead in two days if I use it or not.

I've never used the M90 while reading in bed, and don't intend to use the DX that way either. I tried it last night, and it wasn't great. I like to lay on my side, and the DX is just too big and unwieldy; it really needs two hand to hold it up.

The DX screen looks great. Nice, sharp text. The page turn buttons work well. It has the same micro USB as the other Kindles, so I have another spare cord, which is good since my K3's cord just crumbled 2 weeks ago.

I wouldn't read lying my side in bed, even if someone else is holding the book for me. It should look like so you won't end up like , right

I am about to order my second KDX at $259. I am afraid tomorrow it will go back to 379. I still think Amazon will release a newer KDX, why do people here think they will abandon KDX. Most tablets are 10" why ereaders are not catching at 10" formfactor?

Does the hack work for the original DX (not DXG)?
