I should add that my version of Cool Reader came with the "minimal root" set, and was perhaps not the latest version. FWIW the ePub in question was purchased from Kobo, stripped of DRM, and is fairly large (~2400 pages on my T1 with standard point size in Cool Reader). Font point size changes for that ePub in Cool Reader induced some lag and weirdness (sometimes I had to restart to see the effect), but yesterday I experienced no crashes (in Cool Reader). However, the native T1 reader app has the better experience so far for me on ePubs I think.

I'm losing track of all the different things you can do to make the T! unlike it was out of the box !

I think the first hack - "inauthorized improvement " I should say, I suppose - was about 3 hours after release. I'm hanging on with a virgin (!) to see if it's all necessary........

@log & @dwanthny - You remind me of the time I told my boss "All the known bugs have been found." He smiled happily, turned around, took two steps out of the room, then his head snapped around and he said "What did you say?"

![]() IMHO, the bug is not fixed until I've tested the new release. |

As a developer myself, I can fully appreciate both sides of the fence when it takes time to test and roll fixes out to folks.

	- It sucks for the dev because you have a fix, have tested it and handed it off to be pushed out... but you still get the flak from everyone still suffering from it, and want to know why it isn't available ASAP if it has been fixed. - It sucks for the customer because the dev is telling you it has been fixed, and may even tell you when it will be available, but you still have the problem and don't trust the dev who missed in the first place. |

I have now tried to return my T1 for a total of three weeks. This has involved a total of six phone calls and a couple of emails and the product STILL hasn't been picked up. I'm just to utterly fed up with SONY at this point and I don't want to buy any of their products ever again

Although when it comes to bug schedules, it is really hard to get any sort of concrete answer. Usually it boils down to "it'll be fixed when it gets fixed." |

				Back to paper for now

I just returned my PRS-T1 to the retailer

I had already done this once after the freezing/dictionary issue, just in case it was the unit itself. Got a new one, and the same thing started again. As an insomniac who reads in the middle of the night to get back to sleep, I just couldn't handle fast forwarding through 400 pages and then being frozen out for 15-20 minutes at 3 a.m. I waited until Nov 30 for the update and then called Sony. Once I convinced the call centre that it was actually a recognized issue I was told it would be Dec. 2, at which point it became mid December. I then decided that I better return the unit before the retailer's 30 day return policy was up.I'm really missing my ereader, but so far my paper book hasn't gone crazy, and I'm always able to change the pages when needed. As soon as this forum indicates there is a functional fix I will head out and buy another. Hoping it happens really soon ... Dawn |

I'm now going to try to send it for service instead because then there is actually a physical address in town that I can go to *sigh* |

I just spent half an hour on the phone with my local Sony support. He didn't have any knowledge about the problem with the T1 readers and didn't even appear to have any general knowledge of the product. After 30 min of conversation he was still unable to explain to me how I could hand the product in for service. At that point I gave up and ended the conversation.
