Is anyone using www.MyNook.com?

Sometime in the past couple months B&N launched a new portal where you can manage your Nook ebooks.

I just found it today and I'd like to know what you think. Is anyone using it? Did you know about it already (I was surprised)?

I don't find it any different, really, than managing through the library. Not enough to get me to change my ways of sideloading and organizing everything through Calibre. I just shelve by hand.

It appears to me that whenever I sign in to my nook account through bn.com, it goes to the same page as if I use the mynook.com. If they've made any improvements to book management, I haven't noticed them. Like astrangerhere, I use Calibre to manage my library, although I do not typically side-load my BN purchases. I have, however, downloaded all of them into a back-up drive so that I can play with them at will, with additional help from Apprentice Alf!

Most of the things in that portal were already in the B&N site; it seems they've found a new access method for it. It looks like B&N is trying to appear more like Amazon in the way it presents things like recommendations, etc.

I don't use it, but I went there to see what it was like; and I discovered that my Nook Color is now 1 year and 1 week old

I thought mynook.com was going to be a way to manage your shelves across devices. One still has to manually setup their shelves when they buy a new device or perform a factory reset?

The rumor that it was goin to provide shelf management was just that. It was a pipe dream conjured up on the B&N community boards and was never implicity or expressly confirmed by CS. I think people hoped they would see it so badly that they overtalked it.

I missed this. I like the way it makes suggestions of similar books based on each book in my library. I think I'll be using this after the holidays.

Thanks Nate.

It's your fault. Thanks to your post, a half dozen or so of us visited the page and swamped B&N's servers. Now they took the page down so the rest of their site doesn't crash

Now it redirects to http://mynook.barnesandnoble.com, so the downtime was probably due to a flubbed DNS entry.
