They did change every four days until 25 Nov when no offer arrived for the first time since Amazon started the program. But yesterday (26 Nov), Amazon offered a so-called daily offer that was actually exclusive for the KSO; instead of the offers that are available to everyone.

Who knows what will drop next or if they even keep their 4-day cycle anymore. It may change to a 5-day cycle, because that was the interval between the last two offers.

Remember, there are two programs going on simultaneously: Kindle Special Offers and Daily Holiday Deals.

IOW, it's a mess

The discrepancy could be because of the Holiday. Maybe the Special Offer people had an extra day off.

Actually, the offers are loaded into the Kindles days and even weeks in advance. The internal clock triggers their appearance at a set time.

It's only a mess because folks have expectations that I don't believe Amazon ever promised. And maybe because there are now so many KSO's out there... Amazon figures there's no way they can keep up the pace they started with.

I'll take what I can get. And I appreciate I could get a Kindle Keyboard at a lower price ('specially after accidentally abusing and killing my first beloved KK!). And I do enjoy the various screen savers vs the dead authors.

That's a bit heavy handed. I just opted-in special offers after paying full price for my Kindle. My only expectations were that every 4 days or so a new offer would be made..That has not been the case in the last week to week and a half.

My point is that Amazon never promised an offer every four days or the 'quality' (dependent on the owner's perception, methinks) of the offers. The four days was determined by the sleuths here and at other forums.

This is how Amazon currently describes Special Offers:

Special Offers & Sponsored Screensavers
You'll receive special offers and sponsored screensavers directly on your Kindle, including AmazonLocal deals in select cities. Examples of past special offers include:

$30 for one month of unlimited yoga classes in your city ($119 value)
Save up to $500 on select HDTVs
$1 for a Kindle book, choose from thousands
$15 for $30 worth of groceries at your local store

Your offers display on your Kindle's screensaver and on the bottom of the home screen—they don't interrupt reading.

Kindle e-reader: example sponsored screensavers

Has that changed at all from the initial wording?

And in skimming the start of the thread I have to agree with the following...

If you have a Kindle sans Special Offers and you turn the 'feature' on and off as you please? Or do you only get to turn SO on once?

Of course Amazon can do whatever it wants. Since it recently allowed owners who paid full price to opt into the program, it could find those same owners opting back out if the offers keep getting worse or start slowing down.

Amazon is not some benevolent benefactor bestowing these offers out of the goodness of its heart. It earns advertising revenue from this program. More Kindles with Special Offers in the hands of customers translates into more profit for Amazon. Owners have every right to expect a certain level of compensation in return for the ads. If Amazon intends to reduce the level of that compensation through smaller discounts and longer intervals between offers, then it should say so. Owners, as active participants, have a right to this information. Prospective owners have a right to it in order to make an informed buying decision.

My understanding is that if you've purchased your device at full price, or you pay the $30.00 to unsubscribe, you can then subscribe and unsubscribe at will.

As to the days:. According to TubeMonkey and other early adopters of the KSO, they have been replacing the ads every 4 days from day one. As someone who has been following this thread out of curiosity (I was planing on buying a Kindle Touch KSO, before they made it a Special Offers a subscription) since day one, yes I had an expectation that the ads would continue to follow that same schedule.

Furthermore, the only ad that has received a complaint from me was the one linking to the "Deals" page, as that is open to everyone who visits the site and did not constitute a "Special Offer" IMO.

I've been watching this thread from early on without a KSO, too, as I was curious as to what sorts of offers would appear.

Maybe the Deals' link is meant to be a sponsor and not a Special Offer? The only actual special offer I currently seem to have is an AmazonLocal offer (which really isn't local because it's an online thing LOL) - the other four include a Kindle apps mention, the AT&T ad that never leaves, a TNT ad, and an Amazon mention of their 50% of winter wear sale.

I seem to have the same ads you do. Is your local ad also for a "Custom Color Photo-book"?

Yes. The only other local ad I've seen has been for teas, which was also an online purchase (I think - I never read the specifics or went to the site).

I want to know what happen to KSO daily deal Amazon announced and then didn't do? Has anyone asked Customer support about this? I know many people subscribed just for this only to find out it was the Goldbox daily deal but still no notice about it at all on my Kindle.

Anyone know what happened?

I just got a new normal offer for 50% off Cashmere sweaters.

Those sweaters are not a Special Offer. It's available to anyone who shops at Amazon. It might be today's offer, but it doesn't say.

No not today's Goldbox deal but I see you are right it's not exclusive to Kindle users.

I think they forgot about us! *pouts* We need to complain to Amazon about this. I was expecting some special deals these past few days but we got nothing!
