				kf8 support

Has Amazon released any information on kf8 format which would allow calibre support? Do we know is even going to be a non-DRMed version of the format? I would think ePub to kf8 format would be less of a headache than ePub to mobi.

Can pretty much guarantee it won't be non-DRM. Pretty sure publishers won't allow that.

Most likely at some point amazon will release tools to convert epub to kf8, those tools are likely to produce non drmed output. At that point the process of reverse engineering the format (amazon will almost certainly release no information about the format) will begin. How long (if it is ever completed) that reverse engineering will take will depend on 1) how badly designed the format is 2) How much time people are willing to volunteer to the reverse engineering effort.

Is that the standard workflow for publishers these days. Export to ePub from Indesign and then use some command line tool that Amazon provides to get it on the kindle?

I have no idea. I know that adobe recommends that they use calibre to convert the output from Indesign to MOBI, but I have no clue as to whether publishers actually use calibre or the Amazon tool, kindlegen

Those are feature lists, what's needed is a description of the internals of the format.
