Here's the Marbled Indigo skin I had cut for my PRS-350 to match the blue cover and compliment my Reader's silver edges. You can see by the soft reflection on the back that the skin is matte. I believe Indigo is now a standard order for the 350 and the 950 as well.

People have actually tapped me on the shoulder in restaurants and on public transpo to ask about this particular combination -- mostly because the skin's subtlety and rightness with the cover make people think the Reader looks like that naturally.

That looks excellent! Does it work well with the reader in a cover? I want something really stable, because I like to put my reader on a stand and read while eating sometimes.

I've used it with both my Sonys in their covers. My NC cover is too bulky, but it has an easel built in anyway, so that would be redundant.

If the cover folds back flat when opened, then it works quite well.

I used to have the Milky Way design and I was going to order the Marbled Indigo as Prestidigitweeze has, and stumbled on Colormatch Navy (in matte of course) and ended up ordering that instead. It looked like it would imitate as closely as possible the blue PRS-350s available in Europe, and I absolutely love it for that reason, it's very classy looking. The Sony cover is folded back in the image, how I hold it to read. I liked it so much I ordered a 2nd one for my spare 350.

That looks great, Ripp.

I still think the skins are somewhat overpriced for being non-reusable, but I can definitely see the appeal, and the skins would preserve the reader nicely from finger oils and sweat and such, although after four years of very heavy use, the only part of my 505 that shows it is the next page button on the right side.

A concern I have is the report that removing the skin resulted in removing the serial number from the back. Anyone else tried and had the same thing happen?

When I removed the skin from my broken 950 to send it in for warranty replacement, nothing was ripped off. The way my 950 DecalGirl skins was designed, it left the serial number uncovered, and I can only assume that applies to all colors/patterns they offer for the 950.

That was me that posted that the serial number was pulled off when I removed the old design. For some reason, the template for the 950 is different than the 350 and 650. For the 950 on the front, the skin doesn't cover the space above the buttons where the text is for back, forward, home, resize and options... the skin stops below the buttons so there's no need for a cutout area for the buttons. And on the back there's a rectangular cutout for the serial number label so it's not covered, it's fully visible.

On the 350 and 650 skin, you've got the text covered on the front by the skin (and the imprinted text is often fuzzy compared to the reader), and there's no cutout on the back for the serial number, the skin just covers it. I don't know why they did them differently. I often thought how much easier positioning the skin would be without having to worry about the button cutout.

If you check page 1 of this thread, you'll see the 950 up top and then others below to see the differences.

Edit: I spell like a putz when I'm tired!

Good choice, Ripplinger, and nice job on the smooth application of the skin. Nice photograph as well.

I thought about that one, too. The reason I chose the Indigo was because the pattern was subtle enough to be ignored but pronounced enough to offset any difference in color. I also like the fact the indigo glows a bit.

I made a very conscious decision to avoid solid colors.

It's the brown-shoes-with-black-pants exception to that age-old fashion rule: The inevitable slight dissonances in color are minimized by careful distinctions in texture. That can also work with a black sports jacket and black dress pants cut from different fabrics.

(One could argue that a flat visual pattern is not really a texture, but I would counter that the point of these kinds of patterns is to create the illusion of texture.)

I took a similar approach with my other PRS-350, only this time, I matched a black woodgrain pattern to the black lining inside the blue case. You can see the effect of the pattern here:

And the similarity of color here:

The woodgrain finish was actually high on my list of original skins, I thought it would be very nice looking no matter what cover you had it in and not a distraction from reading like some of the busy prints are, and indeed it is all that from your images. I'm a blue nut though, and decided to stick with my favorite color choice. If they had a navy blue woodgrain design, I probably would have gone with that over the original Milky Way.

Just Ordered One!!

Thanks for letting us know!! When I first looked there were only 2 skins up. I know we can order custom made ones but it looked so sad to see an empty page.

I went now and there were a lot more. I still ended up ordering a custom one for my T1. My last two readers I had the same design, Nature Ditzy so I went with something different this time. I *love* this one OMG!! Maybe it's silly to get excited about a reader skin but I am. lol I'm loving my black reader but I find it scratches pretty easy where I put my clip on light & I want to protect it, so skin it I shall!

It's called Fascinating Surprise. It's black, purple & teal & I'm so excited about it.

In the end, our choices are equally good, and the differences come down to minutely distinct shades of personal taste.

What counts is that I find it satisfying to look at my PRS-350s – particularly the one in softly glowing Indigo – and so do you with your solid Navy skin. To each their ownership, and a toast to converging interests.

Here's my Sony Prs-T1 in it's new Decalgirl skin. Green Lacquer. Didn't want any bright colors distracting from the screen, just wanted to get rid of the shiny plastic look. I think it's not bad.

I got a mini Oberon slip case designed for Kindle 4 but fits the Sony nicely, because the K4 is a bit wider than the Sony it allows me to slip the stylus into the side, (not that I use the stylus but it's there if I want it).

Thanks for posting, bjkel! Was it hard to put on? I'm particularly concerned about how it appears to cover the bezel. I'd be worried I'd mess up and it would wrinkle in the corners.

Wasn't that hard and I'm terrible at lining these things up. Once I got the buttons aligned it went on pretty smoothly, kind of just folded down over the benzel as I pressed it down close to the screen, I was worried it was going to go wrinkled but it didn't.
