I agree that it looks as if something is wrong or missing on that page. I believe pdurrant subscribes to that magazine, but I think he gets the Kindle edition, which may not contain that error.

You really need to complain, and perhaps ask for your money back. It's $5.99 from Fictionwise, but if you buy with a discount code (usually every weekend) you can get it from $4.50 to $2.40, depending on the discount rate.

I finished Sparrow Rock and it was enjoyable. It reminded me a bit of Infected by Scott Sigler, which I loved.
I'm sticking with the horror theme and am going to start The Turtle Boy, which was a free Kindle download. |

Just finished The Missing of the Somme by Geoff Dyer - a very idiosyncratic private meditation on World War I and its meaning to the present generation, and an extended meditation upon remembrance and Remembrance. Highly personal in its viewpoint, Dyer's tour of battlefields & cemeteries reads at times like a drunken frat boy road trip that unexpectedly morphs without warning into a starkly elegiac re-telling of the past, still able to bring tears and a profound sense of unimaginable loss - and for what reason?
[N.B. The Kindle edition is poorly formatted - and the photographs do not render well at all - on either eInk or Fire screens] |

Finished reading and just posted a review of Snuff, the latest Discworld novel.
It's the darkest Discworld novel I've read so far. While the humor is still there it's toned down somewhat due to the gravity of the topics the novel tackles. Overall a good read, but don't expect the silly hilarity of the earlier Discworld novels. |

I'm reading The Compete Stories of Lydia Davis. I'm also reading a collection of stories by Michael Swanwick.

Things have finally calmed down to the "hurry up and wait" stage around here, and I got a lot of reading done. I read and loved John Scalzi's Old Mans War, The Ghost Brigade, and The Last Colony. I then re-read The Forever War by Joe Haldeman(with an interesting forward by John Scalzi). I then moved on to Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein, and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
I'm taking a break from military type science fiction, and just started 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I really like it so far. Not as good as The Stand or The Dark Tower, but much better than Under the Dome. After that, I'm not sure. Maybe IQ84 by Haruki Murakami, or a quick re-read of The Christmas Books of Charles Dickens. |

I just started reading the New Revised Standard Version Bible with the Apocrypha on my Kindle. It's possibly the most respected Bible version among contemporary critical scholars, and just became available yesterday as an ebook. I believe I've had it on pre-order for over a year, and was quite happy to see it show up on my ereader.
