Yeah, this seems to be the common, yet very practical, approach. Not sure why they went another route. It alienates many people from using this feature.

I have just installed Mantano reader version 1.6.4, and have a few problems.

First, it reports an error when trying to download the user manual.

Second, and much more important, I can't find any method to let me see complete pictures in EPUBs. It shows the part of the picture which will fit in the display, but there is no (obvious) way to scroll up and down or sideways, or to zoom in or out. Pinch zoom does not work in EPUBs like it does when viewing PDF files.

Third, I can't find any method to remove a book from the list of books. By mistake I have opened the same book twice, and now it appears as two separate books in the list of documents.

To delete a book:

Set view to details hit the checkbox next to the book you want gone then hit the delete icon on the menu bar. It will ask you if you really want to delete it. Hit Yes.

If you want to remove the actually file of the book which you don't in your case, check "Also delete files" on the popup box but this removes the actually epub from your device. Unchecked it only removes it from Mantano.

Thank you, Blossom. I hadn't even noticed there were checkboxes in detail view.

I have the same problem. Only a small part of the images show on the page.

Hi guys,

i am using asus TF101, and i found out in many occasion i have trouble selecting text. the cursor always jump and selecting bunch of other adjacent texts while i just wanted to select one word (for dictionary lookup). it was very annoying.

have u guys face similar problem? every other readers i tried can do text selection very smoothly and intutive. i didnt get why a 5-star, highly praised app failed in this particular function.

this is particularly evident at the end of any paragraph. i cannot select the last word in the paragraph, in any epub i tried.

**i just found out that in my Dell Streak, the app is actually better and perfect.

I have this problem when there is spacing between paragraphs. The last word in the previous paragraph is selected when selecting the first line of a paragraph.

OPDS & Passwords

I stumbled across Mantano today and now I have new favorite! So glad I decided to poke around in this forum.

Has anyone been able to get opds to work with passwords enabled while using Calibre Content Server? While PW is on it works fine in my browser and using the Calibre Library app but I get no results after entering my PW in Mantano and Aldiko. Once I remove the PW from Calibre, opds works perfectly in both readers. At the moment I'm using an ASUS TF running 3.2.1.

@Team Mantano: Any plan to implement a better drawing/freehand annotation interface...?

Also need a semi-transparent colour for highlighting non-text/scanned PDF.

And any news on JPEG2000 support in PDF...?

Cheers.

With more than one column, selection from one column to the other does not work correctly.

I am wondering why Mantano is not available for Kindle Fire in Amazon Appstore. On the amazon.com page for Mantano, it says Fire is 'not compatible'. I saw one report that someone was unable to install version 1.6.3 from Getjar (the same version that is currently in Amazon Appstore), so that may in fact be accurate. But the same 'not compatible' message appears for other reading apps such as Aldiko and Moon+. I've successfully installed 1.6.4 on my Fire, so I assume that at some point, when Mantano is updated, the 'not compatible' claim will not be true (I will say that the text on the 'home' screens could benefit from being a little larger to make it more readable on the Fire).

A reasonable conjecture is that Amazon is singling out these apps for 'special treatment'—but on what basis? As an Appstore customer, I expect the apps I purchase to be available for and run on any device that meets the hardware requirements, including (especially) Amazon devices. I would think app publishers (such as the publishers of Mantano) share the same expectation. Moreover, I expect 'compatibility' information to be exactly that, not the result of some arbitrary filter that Amazon is applying.

I would like Amazon to clarify whatever policy they are applying so that all stakeholders can make an informed decision. I will be pursuing such clarity with Amazon CS myself, but wondered if anyone else has done so, and/or what you may have learned.
