Well, that's not encouraging. Isn't this supposed to be a trilogy? Shouldn't there be more progress in the second novel?

I really hope Rothfuss isn't planning on pulling a GRRM here.

Ah. I like to think that the affair is minor too, but it took up too much space IMHO. Why don't you read it soon and tell us what you think?

Of course I didn't have any other complaint about the other details. Kvothe's adventure was very interesting. Enough for me to ignore his poor taste in woman.

Yes, the story made some progress, though more slowly than I'd expected and prefered.

I intend to read some Wilkie Collins, once my paid-for TBR list is a little smaller. I have heard good things about the books from many people.

A very good issue. I liked pretty much all the stories in it. and didn't hate any of them. I especially liked the silly humour of 'Ayuh, Clawdius' and 'The Beau and the Beast'.

(Incidentally, that was the 175th paid-for ebook I've read this year, at an average cost of $2.90. Goodness, I'll miss fictionwise when my TBR list gets a lot smaller.)

Next: Swords Against Wizardry by Fritz Leiber, the fourth in his Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series.

then i immediately purchased the other two books in the series from here using the 'Buy direct from me' link (in the case of the first book that's offered for free you can use the 'Download FREE from Stabenow.com' link). they are inexpensive ($4.99) and you get both mobi and epub versions that are uncontaminated by drm
since finishing the star svensdotter trilogy i've read:

dead in the water, the 3rd kate shugak novel by dana stabenow
i, robot by isaac asimov
river marked, the 6th mercedes thompson novel by patricia briggs

i'm probably going to start reading black magic sanction the 8th the hollows novel by kim harrison later today

I went to the doctor's office today. It was a two-for: I'm due for a physical next week and had to come in for blood work, plus I've been sick. Last week, I tried unsuccessfully to get them to call something in for this cough I've had for the last couple of weeks. I couldn't come in then because my wife's truck is being worked on, and we're down to sharing one vehicle. As it is, I had to rely on my ex-daughter-in-law to take my wife to work today so I could use the car.

So here I am at the doctor's office, and after being told I have bronchitis and being prescribed some really swell drugs, the nice lady doctor goes out and leaves me sitting there for about 20 minutes. Then she comes in and tells me, I'm finished and could go. I asked her about the blood work. "Oh," she said. "I'll get someone in here for you."

Yes, they had forgotten me. But all was not in vain. I, of course, had my trusty Kindle with me, and was able to finish Talks To Teachers On Psychology; And To Students On Some Of Life's Ideals by William James while I was waiting. Sometimes these lectures were dry-going, abut at other moments they were very inspiring and noteworthy. He was an interesting fellow.

Also today, a few minutes ago, I also finished the December 3 issue of Science News.

Life is good. (=cough=) (=hack=)

Aww!! I hope you feel better soon, Tom.

Bronchitis is no joke. I seem to now be prone to upper respiratory infections after a very bad bout of bronchitis a few years ago. Talk about UGH!!!
Glad you had your Kindle to keep you company.
I'm surprised they went ahead with your blood work knowing that you're not feeling well, but at least that's out of the way.

Get some rest, plenty of fluids, etc. etc. etc.

wilkie collins - frozen deep

it explains the emotion of love, the feelings in deep waters of oceans, and something about the crime
book can be a tension book, not a crime book
but book is so fluent

I'm reading Analog Science Fiction and Fact (Jan/Feb 2012) right now, but I've encountered a problem. Here is how this particular page looks on my Nook. I opened it up in the Nook PC app and it looks the same way. Has anyone else read this issue? Is there supposed to be an image here or is there missing text? Otherwise I'm lost as to what this part is supposed to mean.

It looks like the page was scanned as a graphic. I hardly think it's a problem with the Nook. It was just a goof-up on the publisher's end, evidently.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood. I'm not saying there's a problem with the Nook, I'm asking if there's something that's missing on this page. Maybe if someone's read the issue they can tell me what's supposed to be there.
