I think they are not better than the IR touch, since on these you even don't have to actually touch the screen to get a gesture recognized.

Lots of flashing in this video; this reader is far from as good as advertised in the Cybook technology videos.
And since this company is famous for never updating their firmwares (like Sony), I am not very interested by this reader anymore.

you can fully deactivate the flash when reading, thought it's not the default option.
Works rather fine, left some slight ghosting, but it don't bother me that much, while i can't stand using "refresh every 5 pages" on the orizion.
Unless you're in a cold place, there is some way more pronounced traces. E-ink screen still can't stand a bit of cold IMHO !

You can. (but you type is slightly too long, you'll get dictionary search.)

??? The Orizon does not have an option to refresh every five pages (although you can do it manually by touching the screen for a second or so every 5 pages). By my count if you disable flashing on the orizon it flashes every 21 pages.

I wonder if the browser supports flash or html5 to play YouTube videos?

And because someone on some blog mentioned that he couldn't find a text search function: Is there one?

Probably just my memory playing tricks on me. (I haven't looked a that menu in the orizon for a while

I tried it yesterday in Paris (Virgin @ Le Louvre museum). Basically, it worked fine, and compared to my now dead Chinese reader, the main advantage was the absence of flash when turning pages. There is some light refresh going on, but it is far less annoying than a full refresh. It is also much faster, especially the French dictionary and the menus. Pinch to zoom worked fine too.
The two main weaknesses I noticed :
- the side buttons are very thin and almost do not move, so a very precise movement is required to use them ; it is like playing the lottery. Using them seems required to turn pages larger than the screen (I noticed that while trying a PDF).
- the screen is not white, it is gray ; it is readable because the contrast is really good, but not pretty.
French bloggers mainly complain about the nonfunctional USB connection, and the one-line note taking. They also report that several SD-cards they tried did not work at all ( even Sandisk ones ! ). Someone reports a severe slowness of operation when more than 100 books are present.
And since this company rarely updates the firmwares of its various models, good luck with those problems ! Without these, I may have bought it, mainly because the absence of hard full flash (except when moving the pages of a PDF, though) really is a big plus.

That's not really true. Bookeen has released 3 firmware update for the Orizon in the last year (And I am happy with them except that Blue Tooth has still not been added). Although it will probably be several months before there is one for the odyssey.

They do work well in nomal condtion. But , seams that manufacturing was rushed, and some button are indead problematic.

I can confirm there problems, as much as I hate to say it

I'm hoping it"s some software thing, not hardware.. And that bookeen can fix that fast. I'm also confidant bookeen will fix that as fast as humanly possible.
For the rest, the software is pretty stable.

Maybe that someone didn't used folder view, it's not the defaut option.

Nevertheless, here to please you: they took one year to deliver the promised opus update.
It was so ridiculous it turned out to be a running joke on this forum, this can be checked.

I bought it yesterday evening and must say that even if I have some issues with it (wait for my review this week), I had no problem with the USB, and first thing it asked when I activated the Wifi was if I wanted to install the firmware update.

Not tested (yet) the SD card.

aceflor, check your facts too. the update that took that long was the ePub one for the gen3.
