Spam, Spam Everywhere! PM Spam! VM Spam!

Members of MobileRead have found themselves on occasion spammed via Private Messages or Visitor Messages. Knowing that many problems go un-reported or under-reported, this seemed like a good time to remind everyone that if you do receive spam in your personal messages or on your Profile Page, relief is just a mouse-click away!

Yes, the mods are waiting for your reports.

If you get spam via Private Message, the reporting button is the little ! in a square in the right of the message's title bar.

If you get spam in your Visitor Messages, the report button is the text button 'report' at the bottom right of the message.

Report spam, and we can ban the spammers.

Tom and Paul, is there a special reason that you're posting this just now or is this more a general message what we can and shall do if receiving span mails?

It might be that one user has reported some PM spam, leading us to believe that there might be more going on that isn't being reported.

Thank You to those members that have recently reported PM spam sent to them (and suspected forum spam).

Without these reports, we are not able to quickly stop some of the more creative ways spam members are able to get on our forum (and they are getting more and more creative and smart about finding ways to bypass what we keep putting in place to stop them).

Please continue to let us know of any suspected spam.

It always seems to me when I see forum SPAM, it's in "batches" - I always visit this site via the "New Posts" option, and I suspect the spammers post one forum thread after another.

The 120 second wait time between reporting SPAM posts does get frustrating when trying to be a "good forum citizen".

The wait time is a little frustrating sometimes, I agree. Spammers are getting smarter and they don't always post in batches (those are easier to find and get). EDIT: Oops, maybe not a great idea to post those ideas.

We appreciate all the help we can get from members to help us keep this site mostly clean of spam.
