Moving Kobo ebooks to my Sony T1

I have purchased a Kobo ebook and I can't figure out how to transfer it to the T1. The book sits on "My Library" in Kobo. It shows up as "URLLink.acsm" in my download folder. I asked Kobo for this information and their instructions do not work. Can anyone help please?.

I have a Sony 650. Usually, when asked if I want to download the acsm file, I say open instead of save. Mine opens with the reader software but you can set it to open with ADE as well. When it opens, it downloads the epub file which you can then transfer to the Sony. I'm not sure if this would work wirelessly with the T1.

It doesn't appear to give you a choice. When you hit the Download button it puts the book in the Kobo Library. I am not too worried about it as there are plenty of ebook sources. I just don't like the thought that it is beating me!!.

Yes, you can wirelessly download Kobo books on the T1.
1. Log-in to your Kobo account through the T1 browser.
2. Click on My Library in the upper-right corner to see your book list.
3. Click on the Adobe DRM EPUB box for the book that you want.
4. You will see Downloading in the status bar at the top of the screen.
5. Click the Home Screen button and you will see the book in your Recently Added list.

Do you have the Sony software or ADE installed? If so, open your download folder. Then right-click on the ACSM file to select "Open with", and you should see choices for what software you can use to open the file. It is probably defaulted to open ACSM files with the Kobo desktop software.

Brilliant. Why didn't I think of that. Although it will take a bit of getting used to the browser on the T1. Thanks for your help.

I tried this method also. I tried right click on the acsm file, and open with the Sony Reader, but I got a window "Unable to import item. It already exists in your Library". It doesn't appear in the Library. I then tried with ADE and that brings up the book to read on the Kobo Desktop. Not sure how to get it from here to the T1. I can use the browser as you suggested.

If you don't have the Kobo device anymore then you should probably uninstall the Kobo software. I would think then having done that any books would go to the only reader software on the computer - the Sony or ADE whichever you use.

I have never had a Kobo device, and unfortunately, without any Kobo software installed the books don't go to my T1. It is not that simple. However, having said that, there must be a means of moving books from the Kobo Library to the T1 without using the Browser method. I am not too worried about it, just curious.

You don't need the Kobo software to buy from Kobobooks. I've never had, nor will I ever have, a Kobo device. I've only ever had Sonys and have bought from Kobobooks from day one.

You can most certainly get books from Kobobooks using the Sony software or ADE. You have to download the books to your computer using the Sony software or ADE and then put it on your T1 either through Sync, which many people, myself included HATE or drag & drop to the reader and you're good to go.

You mentioned Kobo Desktop. Uninstall it and use the Sony software to get the book onto your computer then do the drag & drop method to go from your computer to your device.

I also have a T1 and I buy Kobo-books. I just download the books to my pc using Ade and then drag and drop the books onto my reader.

When I download a book it is put into the Kobo Library. It is getting the book from this Library to my T1 that I am having trouble with, as indicated in the above posts. Perhaps you could explain, in detail, for a novice, how you do this with the 'drag and drop' procedure. I would be very grateful. I do have ADE installed.

With my 950, I simply plug it in, start the Kobo desktop software, and press "sync", and it syncs all books in the library to my reader. Does it no longer do that with the T1?

Question:

I've just bought a T1 and have bumped my Kobo WiFi over to the wife as her first eReader.
To get my Kobo books moved over to the T1 I just re-downloaded the books on my PC, but selected Sony's Reader software for opening them instead of the Kobo app...and synced them all to the T1. Ok fine.
But on the T1 I am unable to change fonts which is not the end of the world by any means but just sort of a bummer.... Is that because the files were DRM'ed kpubs?
If I ran them into my install of Calibre which is set on "liberate" would that free me up to change fonts?

I just tried your method. When I hit Sync it just came up with "Your latest Books are in your Library" So it didn't put the book into my T1, just in the Kobo Library. No further ahead, but thanks for your suggestion. If it had worked it would sure make it easy.
