Exclamation For those who got their hands on KTouch

i've got a few questions:

1) is landscape mode available?

2) can you move a zoomed area in the browser with a move of a finger?

3) can you move a zoomed area in PDFs with a move of a finger?

thanks

1.Actually, yes, landscape is available for PDFs but not ePub
2. Yes you can move to a zoomed area (small window top left shows you where you are in the document) - PDFs
3. Yes. PDFs

You can zoom with a touch of the finger as well

The Kindle Touch doesn't read ePubs at all. This is the first report I've read that says it does landscape for PDF, everyone else has said no. Sure you're not talking about the Kobo Touch?

On the Amazon boards, there is discussions about how the Kindle Touch has no landscape mode AT ALL. I would love to see landscape for PDF's, would be nice if Aylalake is actually correct on this...

What about the X-Ray feature? How it works? Is it only for Amazon purchased books?

I don't know what Aylalake is ingesting but there is no landscape mode for any format on the Touch. Just tried. Not there. Also, no epubs.

Thanks for clarifying. Hopefully landscape will be added later.

That's interesting about the zooming and panning of PDFs. Those are two things that I wanted very badly. I also didn't expect to lose landscape mode though. ARGH!

I read, in one of the reviews, that you can't move to the next page if you haven't zoomed all the way back out again... is that true? How does zooming/panning, in PDFs, work with page turns?

I think it's an interface thing- without page turn buttons, it's impossible to differentiate between a page turn and scrolling (since both involve a swipe.) If you are at the edge of a page, then perhaps the Kindle could then interpret a swipe as a page turn. OTOH, if the page is zoomed out, a swipe can only be interpreted as a page turn since scrolling is impossible.

I just want landscape with the nice fit to page width behavior of the last Kindle. That worked really well- about as well as possible for a 6" screen.

Not so -- you can turn pages with a simple tap.

That's a good point. It would involve swiping to only scroll and not turn pages, and tap to turn pages.

I personally think that would work great, but I think from Amazon's standpoint the problem is that is somewhat inconsistent with the default touch controls.

Probably. We've been referring to the Kobo Touch as KTouch and this person's answer sounds like the Kobo Touch . I'm going to assume they got to this thread through the Forum Spy feature (that lists recent threads) and didn't realize they were in the Amazon forum.

KT and KTouch just got a whole lot more confusing!

thanks

i've found a couple of videos on the subject
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okPW9eD4K2U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYWRC-aMiSM

browsing seems to be ok, but PDF reading without landscape mode is horrible... the guy in the video shows KT doesn't have the landscape mode, although people here said it does :Z
