Doh!.. How did I miss that. Just went back and reread the episode and it's perfectly clear. My reading comprehension is going to pot.

Question: Do you consider The Dresden Files to be either an "Epic" or a "Saga"? Also, would you label it as "Hard-Boiled"?

I am re-tagging the books after accidentally deleting my tags, and those keep showing up when I download the metadata through Calibre.

if pressed for an answer to your question i'd have to call them epic sagas, i know, sorry that it sounds like a cop-out. hard-boiled? no

Oh, I'm sorry. I've just realized that my question was phrased as an "either/or", but I was really asking "Do either one of those fit?" If both fit, that's fine. Thank you.

Cool dana stabenow and the star svensdotter trilogy

while i was reading second star, the first book in the trilogy, i got so enthralled with the experience that i sent this comment to dana stabenow about it in a pm on goodreads:

Quote:
alansplace said to Dana:
i have read the first two kate shugak books and enjoyed them immensely. then yesterday i got the first star svensdotter book and am approaching the halfway point in my reading of it. i really really like it and, in fact, i feel like i'm reading a brand new heinlein novel. thanks a lot!!!
--
Alan
after that i immediately purchased the other two books in the trilogy from here using the 'Buy direct from me' link. in the case of the first book it's offered for free and you can use the 'Download FREE from Stabenow.com' link. they are inexpensive ($4.99) and you get both mobi and epub versions that are uncontaminated by drm. anyway, so next i read handful of stars and then immediately began reading red planet run, the last book of the trilogy which i finished this morning. i really hated being done and having to leave the world...er...solar system of star svensdotter.

i highly recommend this trilogy and the kate shugak series as well

Ok, so then riddle me this: What makes a story "epic" and what makes a story "a saga"?

LOTR seems to fit the "Epic" category in my head (big, grand, sweeping), but "Saga" to me, seems to be a multi-generational type thing.

Please discuss!

So they are similar, with epic being on a much bigger scale. I agree with the definition of "epic", but I don't like the one for "saga".
"Saga" has a more family, drama, multigenerational type feel to me.
