Thanks! Are they being sold in Walmart's? Gotta be better than using a machete or a Cuisinart.

I once taught a parakeet to say one word: "Tweet." So while the birds outside would be chirping and tweeting, he'd be in the house saying, in perfect English, "Tweet. Tweet."

Oh, I know all about riding when your face shield's visibility is blocked by rain. Fog, too. I used to have a pair of safety glasses that worked fantastic in fog. I'd pop the lens out, put the frames on my face, and was never stopped once by a cop for not wearing glasses or a face shield. Of course, the trick is not to go too fast. Wind is killer on bare eyes.

But rain is the scariest. Not only can you not see well, but other drivers have no idea how limited your visibility is.

Back in the early 80's I had a parakeet that lived right next to my answering machine and telephone. One day I heard the phone ring twice, got up to answer but all I heard was a dial tone... Happened two or three times, right up to when I was talking with a friend on the phone and I heard it 'ring.' The damn bird mimicked the ringer sound!
After several months, he would also 'answer' the ring with 'Hello? Sorry but I can't come to the phone right now!"

I miss having a parakeet! My wife doesn't appreciate them... She says they are too messy. What does she know...

So are Kamikaze June Bugs!
I'm glad we don't have them here. They really hurt at highway speeds, to say nothing of coating half a face shield when you hit one!

Our June Bugs are a pretty shade of green. When we were kids, we called them Junior Bugs. We'd tie them on thread and fly them around the yard.

Yeah O.K. They're pretty good at getting into your house if the lights on at night. Sort of escape artists in reverse.

We have lyre birds out the back and they do the same thing. Mimic the telephone ringing. We've stopped looking for crying babies out in the scrub too.
