Just finished The Street Lawyer by John Grisham.

Also, just spent the weekend in Whitby in the UK which is where Bram Stoker got the inspiration to write Dracula. One look at the place and you can see why. It's misty and foggy and has great atmosphere. If you're into vampire books, this is a place to see.

Wonderful. It's been voted the best locked room mystery of all time. When you think there can not possibly be an explanation; one appears. However, I did think one aspect of the crime was somewhat of a stretch but maybe it is possible if I conducted a similar experiment. Rated B+ [4 stars].

I'm in the process of reading David Copperfield. I haven't read it since high school and this time around I am enjoying it. I guess with age comes a better appreciation of this classic work. I'm going to try again Tale of Two Cities sometime in the near future.

Re-reading Homer's 'Odyssey.' I find myself compelled to read it every few years just to remind myself that not all adventure stories need to focus on the SAS or Seal Team Six.

I've not read David Copperfield nor A Tail of Two Cities, but I like you analogy.

I have read Great Expectations, I've seen countless adaptations of A Christmas Carol, and I watched the Disney version of Oliver Twist once or twice.

I wonder if there is any child who has attended an American public school, who is not familiar with at least one of Dickens' tales?

Edit: I should say any teen who has attended an American High School, as that's usually when his work is introduced.

I take in the first part of the story because that is when it seems the emotions are set. I actually loathed the Murdstones because of the way they treated David, his mother, and his nanny. I would get into it further just in case someone else would read it and I don't want to give much away.

Finished Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror which was quite fun.

Now, I'm reading two books. Agatha Christie's The Secret Adversary and Stanley Elkin's The Dick Gibson Show. I really enjoyed my first foray into Stanley Elkin's writing and this one is supposed to be pretty funny and very highly rated.

I recently finished Back in Black by John G. Hartness. It is quite a fun read and the second in a series. Nerd Vampire Detectives is an excellent and amusing concept. It is also favorable priced (2.99 or 3.99. I forget which).

I am now reading The Old Man and the Wasteland by Nick Cole. This was only 99 cents and I just can't resist post-apocalyptic scenarios. I haven't read too much of it yet.

I'm reading The Radleys by Matt Haig, a fun tale of your friendly neighbourhood family of vampires.

"A sharp, bloody tale of abstinence and indulgence (and trying not to eat the neighbours)."

Enjoying it so far, though not yet as good as the discussions on telly, or the reviews I have seen. Still a way to go, though.
