I remember back in like 2004 wanting some sort of a temporary print thing that would allow you to take online articles on the subway without wasting paper and ink, and not being LCD based, as I'd spent a whole day looking at one.

I also found myself regularly carrying a newspaper and a book in my bag, as I'd often get tired of one and want a change of pace.

An eInk reader is kinda there. What would be nice is something A4 size that's foldable for pocket-ability and not easily damaged. But those are pretty high goals, I reckon. The 6" displays are fine until something really cool comes along, like eink that you can roll our of a a thin roll or something.

Space considerations: my house is tiny, and books are piled everywhere. I got tired of trying to keep the stacks from tumbling down. (The stacks are still there, but at least they're not getting bigger.)

I'm in the Army. The first time I deployed I didn't have a reader, and carried with me, or had mailed to me the books I wanted for the year and a half I was there. It was a pain to get those books back to the States at the end of the deployment.

I bought my first Reader because I wanted somehow to have my entire library with me wherever I went. After many internet searches, and three years later I'm happy to say I carry in my cargo pocket over two thousand books. I've done what I can to duplicate my paperback library, and so it comforts me to have most of those books on hand at any given moment.

That is why I bought an E-Reader, and will continue to own one until the EMP bombs wipe out everyone's E-Readers. It will be a sad day when we have to go back to paperbacks.

I work a 9PM to 6AM shift that is often quiet and has little for me to do. I have to sit in a lab in case something shows up. I started reading things on line through Google Books and other on line programs but I just decided to get the reader as it would be easier to read and not trackable with the work computers. I read a minimum of 1 hour a night and also on my breaks. One night I had nothing to do so I read the entire "The Great Gastby" while getting paid. Good times!

What could show up? I am picturing a green radioactive blob showing up, and you push the giant alarm button just before it overtakes you.

My reason? To be able to search in textbook. AND carry 2 kg x 15 textbooks in a palm of a hand.

My primary reason is that I don't enjoy reading books at / on a computer. It doesn't seem to be as enjoyable as when curled up in a favorite spot. Other reasons (not particularly in order of importance): instant attainability, I can pretend I'm being environmentally responsible, I prefer anything digital over the physical, no human interaction required, no clutter.

Space and imminent divorce. Although I'm not yet married. Hahaha.

An e-reader was a welcome solution. It hasn't stopped me buying books , but my chap can't see how many I have anymore.
