No I don't understand Chinese, not really (although if the words are "transformed" into Vietnamese by a special technique, the odds that I know their meanings are pretty good ) What I mean is there are enough Chinese elements in my everyday life here, so learning even more Chinese makes me feel not well.

@ Orlok: about my objection, my language includes a ton of Chinese words already. More than healthily enough. Vietnamese sounds 70-80% the same as Chinese! So I have no desire to know Chinese, although I know it'd be one of the most important things to learn for XXI century. As for Stitchawl... he might be amused by the way the folks "draw" - not write - the letters, the looks of the words, the delicacy of how it's written... that's easy to understand. Many have commented that the 21st century will be the Chinese century, and I'm not at all convinced they're wrong.

Oooooo! The intro material (kindle) is very interesting! Can you tell me though: is this "horror" like much of Steven King's other works are? I don't read King for that reason. But this doesn't appear to go in the "horror" direction, and it looks awfully tempting..... Will I like it?

SneakySnake - So glad that Mr. M checked out OK and pooh - Yay! Goldie cat has a clean bill of health, so you know she is up to the antics of Stella cat.

Betty - It's great news that your mom's scan came back clear and she is really OK. My mom is having to use a walker every once in a while as an old knee injury (and replacement) makes it hard to stand and walk around sometimes.

Right now, I am making a big pot of soup and enjoying some coffee from the bag my neighbor's relatives just gave me. They are here from Hawaii and usually bring me a large bag of coffee when they come visit, this time it is Kona vanilla Macadamia Nut. YUM!

Well I'm not ... I read the first chapter and a half. The kindle "sample". And I like it so far! I just wanna know if it goes into "horror". And since it's $16.99, maybe I'll give it a pass, until somebody reads through it and can tell me.

I'm 37% through and there have been no horror elements, at all.
