no updating existing books...
I bought my 1st ebook reader some weeks ago: Sony PRS-T1.
I am haveing problems in updating epub files using the sony app: Reader for Pc. I use Sigil to modify an epub files, I save with it the file and then I import the file with Reader for pc. Each time I verify on the viewer of Reader for Pc that the file has been modified as I did on Sigil. But when I synchronize the library with the ebook reader the file stays the same!! Am I doing something wrong? is it possible to erase the file from the memory of the ebook reader and then synchronize it again? thanks! |

I find the syncing with Reader for PC something less than desired. I had this issue in the past where I would created an updated epub, load it on the reader and nothing would happen. There was a time when uploading the new file would then replace the file with a new one.
I think your best option would be to ignore using Reader for PC syncing and just plug your reader in your pc and manually delete the old file off the reader and replace it with the new one. |

that´s very annoying... I did as you say, but then the ebook says "page not valid" and it does not open the book, even if it shows it
is not possible to sync it with another program like Calibre? So I had to do this procedure several times, using reader for pc and manually replace the file via windows, before I could fix the problem... looking for a fast way to do that! Last edited by GiulioP; 11-11-2011 at 05:45 PM. |

If you get that error you can get the book working again by deleting it from the reader (I did it on the reader itself, tap and hold the finger on the book till the pop up appears and select delete) and sending it again. You'll loose your progress using this method though, so you have to remember where you were.

With any wifi reader, there is no way to reload a book ? - ie no accessible download cache.

On any reader with its own database (Sony, Kobo, ...), you pretty much have to use the device's software to delete a book. That's the onlyeasy way to clean up the database, and make sure the new copy gets added properly. Kobo forgot that, for a while at least... The Sony T1 has it, thankfully. One the db is clean, you can just drag'n'drop the new books; the device finds them and adds them without problems.
