Caffeine is listed as one of the bog no-nos for pregnant women. It has been tied to miscarriages. Apparently the embryo/fetus cannot handle caffeine. I know that many women gave birth to healthy babies while drinking caffeine but I would rather limit the risks that I can limit and caffeine is one of them. I might think about a cup a day after the first trimester but probably will do my best to stick to rooibos teas instead.

Yea, I agree on the caffeine thing... I feel it is probably fine, but not worth the risk. Good call.

Heh. I just spent 25min telling a colleague of mine about Lapsang Souchong. I made a cup for him, because he wanted to try it. He loved it. Well, he tried it before and liked it, so he wanted to try mine

You had to see a smile on his face when he was inhaling the aroma. He is an IT lecturer but at home he is a big fan of wood work. I think most of the furniture in his house was made by his own hands. I guess he could associate himself with this aroma of burned tyres

Going in my cup: Lapsang Souchong. Even though the sky has cleared up, all the talk about it is making me yearn for that smoky aroma and heartiness.

Good morning, all! I can't see the bamboo forest across the street because the fog is so thick this morning... but I know it's still there. That's the nice thing about life... certain things that we can be sure of. I'm going to have a cup of East India Company's 'Royal Breakfast' tea. That's another one of those things we can be sure of!

Very wise. Pregnancy only lasts nine months (just be happy you aren't an elephant!) There is perhaps no period in a person's life that is so strongly influenced by its parents. It's good to do everything in our power to insure that the baby is strong and healthy. There are waaaay too many babies born each day that didn't get such a good start. I take my hat off to all those mothers who have gone the extra mile to insure that their babies get all the help possible from the very beginning. The babies can't say it so let me say it for them... "Thanks, Mom!"

@ Iridal - Hi, It's so good to see you back here! I am sad to hear about the old boyfriend, but very happy to hear you have moved on with the new boyfriend (and have a newly redecorated study.

@ beppe - It's nice to hear you and yours are OK, but I agree it is sad for all those that are affected by the floods.

@ pdurrant - I haven't quite got use to seeing "sugar free lemonade" instead of "Coke Zero #" whatever in your posts.

Right now it is pouring rain and I'm curled up with a bowl of the big pot of soup I just made and a cup of Kona Vanilla Macadamia Nut coffee.

Sipping on coffee while working on my volume 3 of my series. Its looking like it will be the longest one yet too... not sure that is good or bad though!

Had to plug the kettle into the generator to get my second pot of Lapsang Souchong. Storm down from Alaska knocked out power all up and down the Coast. Ended up with a tree onto our back deck, but we were lucky - no real damage. Power's back, however, and all is well.
