I know Movies wasn't working for K1 peeps, but someone had said if you went to it through the browser, it worked?? Glad to hear your A1 arrived and is rocking! Google still says it's not supporting it, so I wonder what's up?

I'm pretty happy with the Flyer, so I'm not minding that I spent more than the A1, it's got more oomph and I have peace of mind. The latter is worth it, I think! ;-) I think I'd like the form factor of the A1 a little more, but the Flyer actually feels really good in the hands, despite being on the heavier side for a 7-inch. Watched a little Netflix last night, which worked great, until Cox started throttling (they always do once we start watching Netflix, jerks), then there was some pixelation like on the TV.

No; some require a camera or a mic or GPS. That's hardware the Fire is clearly lacking.

If Mantano, Dropbox and ES File Explorer work I will be Happy with the Kindle Fire.

They are issuing the refund to my card. Originally I was told it might be a gift card but today they told me it will go back on my Visa. So I just have to wait now. I am relieved that they are doing it this way it gives me more options in case another tablet comes available.

Currently mantano reader is on the amazon appstore for $7.49 and Es File explorer is for free on the amazon app store... drop box i cannot find so it looks like 2 out of 3 of them you can get blossom unless the fire has only a limited access to the amazon appstore wich ive not read about good luck on your new device!

Thanks though I am eyeing the Nook Tablet but I don't think I could get up $273 at the moment. I'm currently using Mantano through the Amazon store on my phone. However it's all up in question if it will be allowed. I am hoping so though.

ES File Explorer on the app store is a very old version. Dropbox I can download from their site if sideloading apps is allowed. That would be ideal. I guess we will know sometimes next week finally.

Ha, did you say, "I'm thinking about replacing it with the Fire"?

From what I've heard, you need to root the Nook to sideload apps (I don't know if Dropbox is in the Nook app store or not). You can sideload files, but not apps. Correct me if I'm wrong, friends! You can buy SD cards with Nook custom ROMs on them and dual boot, so you're basically running all off the card and not messing with the Nook's internal memory (or warranty). I think apps are slightly less stable off the card, but for many it's worth it compared to bricking it.

From the brief hands on stuff bloggers got at the press conference, it looks like the NCTab is using the same UI as the NC, which is why I'm assuming you won't be able to sideload your own apps without some rootin' magic.

The Flyer has the Kobo reader on it, and I played a little bit. Aside from the page turn graphic, I prefer Aldiko (free), so I've kicked Kobo off my home panel and shortcuts. I should explore it, because if I can get the Kobo WiFi and Flyer to sync up, that would be a huge win! But I think only Kobo store books do that. I hope that changes with Kobo's "we're open not like Amazon or B&N" campaign.

Mantano is what I prefer there is a new Free version at the Market. Give it a try! It's really nice. I know I would need to root the NC or NTab but I can't afford it unless someone surprises me for my birthday. $273.28 is too much for me at the moment.

The KF will be $211 total but Now I know it's going back to my Visa I do have more options if something else comes available. Hubby is going to load some more onto my Visa next week. I'm trying to get to figure out how much more I need so he puts the right amount on it. My refund is $175 so I figured $40 should do it.

When I open the Android Market, it has the new display with the 3
green rectangular buttons: Apps, Books, Movies

I log into my android account and can access all areas. However, I'll eventually see
if I can purchase one!

Also, Live Wallpaper is supported and it is stunning!

The Cortex A8 CPU has at its core the TI OMAP 3622 processor. This
processor has dedicated Imagination POWERVR SGX 2D/3D graphics hardware
and gives user interface and gaming developers the power to create rich
graphics effects with cinematic realism. Advanced multimedia capabilities
supporting full multi-standard playback and record functionality up to 720p
HD resolutions.

The sum of this is the IdeaPad tablet A1 is a great device for all media.

My Vizio tablet arrived today. Wow! The Vizio is so much better than the Coby Kyros that I had before. Much better screen, wifi works like it should, really impressive attention to detail on the software side, it's just on a whole different level.

I think this one is going to be a keeper. I actually like it better than my Nook Color.

Now if only I hadn't started the update process over my phone's wifi connection... creep... creep... creep...

Even though the back is smooth on the A1, it has a good feel due to the
curvature close to the edges on the back. Although, I immediately bought
a case for protection with screen protectors on the way ...

There are so many decent tablets nowadays! The responsiveness and the
incredible graphics of the A1 make it a joy to use. The graphics stay crisp
and clear at almost any viewing angle, and all this with the brightness set
to about 30%.

I don't find this surprising. Unfortunately, people tend to turn their noses up at the vizio brand when it comes to LCD's...even though they're top 3 in the market, now. They make good stuff -- and no, I don't own one, so I'm not just justifying my own purchase. But if I was in the market for one, I'd give them as serious consideration as I would any other brand.
