Even with a full refresh, most eInk displays will have a little bit of ghosting. I had a TON on my iRex DR800, and it was noticeable in periodicals where pages were formatted similarly. It was so blindingly obvious it was annoying.

The 650/950 I have also ghost, more than my T1. Easiest way to see it is just putting the device to sleep. Couldn't tell when reading a book though. Not sure if it is just a trick of the eye or what.

Yours looks a tiny bit worse than my T1 (I can't really pick up on it, but I can detect it now that you mention it on the home screen), but still worlds better than the DR800 I had.

FWIW, my 950 (which of course has full refresh), has some light ghosting also.

expect too much? forgive me because this is mine first pearl reader, but my pb360 Vizplex's full refresh shows zero ghosting at any page. Plus I also see ghosting when reading which is very annoying especially toward the end of the chapter when only a small paragraph left and the rest of the page looked like a outline of the previous page. Maybe I have been pampered by mine pb360, and maybe most other readers do experience ghosting, but i ask the question if this is normal and a few said no, so i naturally assumed something could be wrong with my T1.

That shouldn't happen if it's doing a full refresh.

This would drive me nuts and should not be accepted. I don't have ghosting on my 505 and only one time a week on my 950, the other thousand times a week no ghosting. Isn't there a manual screen configuration setting on the T-1 like the 950 where you can correct this?

Thanks for agreeing with me and there is no configuration that fixes this problem. Its sorta like reading a paperback made out of semi transparent paper. Sigh and I am still waiting to hear from sony.

Here's my 2pence-worth. I have a PRS505, PRS650 and PRST1.

The 505 has never had a ghosting problem.

The T1 has never had a ghosting problem but, since it's less than a week old, the jury's still out.

The 650, now and again, certainly does have a ghosting problem. Sometimes it's happened twice a day, other times several weeks go by without it happening. I can tell when it's starting to happen, page turns become slower and it's as if the device is struggling to refresh the page and only a slow partial refresh happens. It is not comfortable to keep reading in this state. However, the good news is that if I do a full device shutdown then turn it on again the problem has gone away (until the next time). I've been carrying on like this since December 2010. I should have sent it back but because PRS650's became a scarce commodity I didn't want to risk losing it altogether.

That does not look right at all

I do not have any ghosting while reading a book, although I can see the text from a previous page for the shortest time, then its gone. However, if while reading I go to the menu settings (to change the font size for example) there is ghosting, then if I go back or foward a page, it disapears.

I had two 900s, one 350, one 950 and I have played with my father's 900 and with two more 950s owned by colleagues.

ALL of them had as much ghosting as you are depicting in your pics.

Now, I don't know if I just have an insane amount of bad luck.... but in my experience, it is perfectly normal - and I don't really notice it, when reading. But, if I look for it, it's there.

If you think the ghosting is abnormal, then I would exchange it and try a new unit. Or, visit a local store that has demo models and see if it looks similar.

I have seen that on every eInk reader that I have ever owned, going back to a Sony 500. Including another 500, a 505, a 900, a Kindle 2, a Kindle 3, a Nook Touch, and now a T1. Seems to be inherent in the technology. You just get used to it. It does not really interfere with reading.

I also have this problem, but if this is normal, it's not that bad.

Yeah, i got it exchanged. so far, zero ghosting in the menu pages and during reading. This is a hardware fault, if anyone experiencing any ghosting especially with readers like prs-t1 which only performs full refresh, you likely have a faulty screen, get it replaced.
