I wonder if I'm starting to experience the T1's problems?
It hit my one day old T1 last night, pretty much just after I started swiping to turn pages (didn't want button clicking to keep my wife awake!) The touch controls were completely dead.

This morning the T1 seems to have recovered automatically...

Hey Everyone,

I just posted this in another post. This is not a permanent fix to the page flip/freeze, however, it is an immediate fix.

When the flips/freeze occur, do not touch ANYTHING except the power button to shut it off. Turn it back on immediately and IMMEDIATELY turn it back off, then back on.

This will restore it. Search for your page and begin reading again.

Before, I would let it sit for about thirty minutes to an hour. Now, this fixes it immediately, until the next time.

Hope this helps for those who are keeping their T1 until there is a fix.

I have been reading my 950/350 more until I found this immediate temporary fix. But, I am loving my 950 allllll over again.

Yes, I've tried. Press, hold Next & Back buttons but I cannot wait hours while holding these button. So I've released them after about 5 minutes.

Thanks for the video pe1dnn, that is the exact issue.

No better way to illustrate it to Sony.

Thanks for taking the time to make that video.

I had this exact glitch after only reading about 50 pages on my brand new PRS-T1. After I got to the Home screen. I just put the device to sleep a couple times then it started working again. I did not have to use the reset button. I havent had any other crashes since

I really love the form factor of the PRS-T1. It is so light its really unbelievable. I think build quality is good enough for an E-Reader. In fact I'm giving my PRS-950 to my dad and just keeping the T1.

It definitely seems like a software glitch and I'm sure Sony will get it worked out. So I will just deal with it until they release a firmware update. Hopefully it wont take too long.

I found another confirmation from Sony stating they are aware of the problem and working on it. Its on the Sony store page which makes it more remarkable since pages like that have in general obviously a positive bias.

This is good for us T1 owners. It seems like Sony is not just giving lip service, but is actually working on a fix.

I was amused at some of those complaints about the reader, especially the one where it says that - "...Second, when turning pages, the screen flashes..." Obviously this person has no idea of what an eInk reader is.

Anyway, glad that it is getting Sony's attention.

Min has crashed two or three times, too, and I only received it yesterday. I've reported it to Sony and just done a factory restart, so I'll see how it goes from here.

I have mine now for 6 days and never had a crash. I mostly use the buttons to turn pages, I almost never swipe.
I have around 90 books on my reader.

Thanks for the latest info. I hope Sony is really working on it in earnest. You would think they'd be motivated to understand the issues before the Pottermore official launch.

I replied to my support email that the factory reset didn't solve the problem and Sony Support replied back:

Quote:
We do apologize for any inconvenience with the performance of the device, actually we have received a few reports in this regard and we have escalated the issue to the engineering department for a solution to the issue, that would include a firmware update but this has to be confirmed and informed to your as to the other customers. We will continue working for a solution to this issue and we will let you know of any update on this regard.

My response is actually about the page flipping/freezing/no touch response problem. So it is applicable in this thread also but you are correct, I had been responding in the other thread.
