export annotations, please!

Please please please create a simple option to export annotations as a text file of some sort, this is really essential for students and researchers!

It seems other people thought highly of the same idea and have already rolled out the feature. It's not too late Kobo to play a bit of catch up.

http://gizmodo.com/5854973/amazon-is...in-the-kindle?

"One of the best things about the Kindle ecosystem is that you can read your books anywhere. Start reading on a Kindle at night, pick it up on your Nexus One on your way into work, polish off the chapter over your lunchbreak in your Web browser, browse a little bit during the three o'clock food coma on the Kindle app, and then dive in on your iPad during the commute home. No matter which device you fire up, the content stays synced, letting you jump into the book exactly where you last left off.

Amazon has worked really, really hard on this ability to let a book follow you everywhere. That was smart. It's one of Kindle's best features. It was what helped Kindle break out when previous e-book formats and readers had not. It's a promise by Amazon that this won't be a DRM nightmare that locks you into one device. Yes, there will be copy protection, but it's going to be reasonable and readable.
"
+1 x 100 on that!

I read exclusively DRM free sideloaded epubs, and would like to be able to read on my Kobo at home at night, and catchup at lunch or whatever during the day using the Blackberry or Android apps, and then come home and resume where I left off without ever having to worry about it.

It can't that difficult, just implement 2 simple items:

1) require the files to be exact duplicates of eachother, ie the same digital file, just copied on 2, 3 or however many devices, and

2) keep track of exactly which word number was at the top of the page I was on, it's digital software, it has to be able to count words.

I know that's an over simplification, but seriously, it's not rocket science either.

Cheers

If it's already being done, then it only works with Kepubs, because the mobile app for Blackberry doesn't even let you read sideloaded DRM free epubs, let alone sync them...

I'd like read syncing with my own files not Kobo's proprietary format.

I would like a dictionary that works, instead of the piece of crap that's built in. I've run into an issue at least a half dozen times recently where a dictionary lookup gives me a useless (actually unbelievable) result.

Eg: theistic - of or relating to theism

SERIOUSLY??? My 6 year old child would probably have tried that, but I expect better from Webster.

If you are going to pull that kind of crap, then at least make the dictionary lookup feature work within itself too so I can hold down "theism" and get a useful meaning for what I was searching for in the first place !@#$@!

It only works with kepubs so if you read another epub it doesn't sync across devices. I do love this ability with kepub but mainly read other DRM free epubs so would love to go between my KT and Vox with ease.

It would be nice to be able to use some custom dictionaries. I am Finnish so Eng-Fin dictionary would be plus (I have that on my Android tablet).

I'd like to suggest:
- An addition to "Device Information" showing information about the SD card currently inserted. Particularly size and memory used on the SD card if one is inserted.
- 128-bit key support for WEP (seems only 64-bit keys are supported in the KT)
- Proxy support. Sometimes connection out of a work environment requires going through a proxy server.
- An option to select image files loaded on the KT or SD card for each of sleep mode and powered down mode instead of the bookcover under "Sleep & Power".
- A way to see a list of active newspaper/magazine subscriptions, perhaps under "Account".

I am pretty sure my KT supports 128-bit WEP, I am using it with that. No problems here. FW version 1.9.12. My network has 128-bit wep key in hexadecimal form.

Hmm.. Doesn't seem to work with me. 64-bit seems ok but the Admin doesn't want to drop the key to that level. I also have FW version 1.9.12.

Using a Linksys E2000 router with DD-WRT, 128 bit WEP works with Kobo devices. But who in their right mind would use WEP these days? Takes just a couple of minutes to crack WEP. WPA is not all that secure these days so WPA2 would be a much better option.

If your administrator is actually depending on WEP to secure a wireless network, tell him to move into the 21st century and look at WPA2. Much like rainbow tables made LM password hashes trivial to crack, there are several tools that make cracking a WEP password trivial. Check into using a BackTrack 5 Live DVD with a compatible wireless NIC to collect the data for aircrack-ng as an example

I agree that other Encryption protocols would be a better option security-wise, however some of the cards we are supporting do not work well with WPA2 for one reason or another so to support the Lowest Common Denominator we are using WEP for a portion of out network. We do however make sure that it is on a segment that is non-crucial but still gives Internet access. If on the other hand Kobo devices supported Proxy servers I could connect to the WPA2 hub.

One tap for the dictionary where the definition appears at the bottom of the screen. Please! The two taps for 'definition' needed and then a page covering the text? No good at all.
