This is pretty common knowledge on this side of the world. Nothin' special. In fact, we have both the domed grill and a 'steamboat' pot in the house as part of our normal pots and pans. Just a different way of life.

I'm getting ready to settle in with a glass of rum and a good movie. Well, I'm sure the rum will be good, I'm not so sure about the movie. We're going to watch 'Tresspass,' Nickolas Cage's new movie with him and Nicole Kiddman. I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out.

One thing I can guarantee you. Nicolas Cage will be...Nicolas Cage.

He's my favorite! He'll go bald real soon, but I don't know why I always think he's handsome

Just had a glass of Cabernet Franc, of 3 years. From the North East of Italy. Admirable balance. Wonderful perfumes. Subtle flavors. There is enough for dinner.

Waiting for the sauna to warm up. Then, to contrast the ugly weather, fireplace and yes, the weather is just right for it, roasting chestnuts (I might pop an half bottle of the real thing to interest BigGirl in the operation). Chicken Maroc style is slowly getting ready for dinner in the slow cooker on slow. Onions, sweet peppers, parsley, apricots, raisins, chickpeas and an arm long list of spices (cumin, cinnamon, mace, paprika, ginger and cayenne). I made preserved lemons for this dish. I will add one at the very end.

It is only November but there is a not unpleasant atmosphere of Yule festivities in the air. We are discussing which gift to buy for LittleDaughter.

Tried Jägermeister tonight. Don't remember who, but someone in our Society likes it So, when I saw it on a menu in the first pub, I got it. Let's say it was a weird liquor. Odd flavour to say the least. It reminded me of some medicine but I could not remember which one
After that, on to Mongolian restaurant. Interesting place. We have not been to this restaurant for 6 or 7 years. You follow instructions in receipts that consist of putting raw meat and other uncooked ingredients into a bowl. Then you bring it to a chef, who dumps the whole lot on a huge sizzler and in 2-3 minutes the dish is ready. You can repeat the process indefinitely.
Not really my style. The end product is tasty, but the process is...tedious or creative or whatever. Something I hate about cooking and that's why I don't cook. Chinese buffet style is more suitable for me
Why? Oh why did she have to buy so much stuff in a shop before we met in a town? My backpack weighted some 6-8kg and we had to walk (crawl?) home....1.6 mile!

Tea! Now!
Afternoon Blend (F&M)
We have one of these places in Naperville. I loved it, because I don't like peppers of any kind. I keep thinking it'd be great for Chris, the non vegetable eater.

I saw the cover for this in the Redbox in the store last night. I have no idea why but I am such a sucker for Nic Cage. He's really the only actor I care anything at all about (and even him not that much - guess I'm not a celebrity hound...) Anyway, how was it??

It is official : I don't know when we are moving in, and I won't plan it. Very pissed, in the angry, not drunk, sense. In my cup : Vodka Caramel (that tells a lot).

Well early in the morning, about the break of day,
I ask the Lord, "Help me find the way!"
Help me find the way to the promised land
This lonely body needs a helping hand
I ask the Lord to help me please find the way.

When the new day's a dawning, I bow my head in prayer.
I pray to the Lord, "Won't you lead me there?"
Won't you guide me safely to the Golden Stair?
Won't you let this body your burden share?
I pray to the Lord, "Won't you lead me please, lead me there?"

A good and peaceful Sunday morning, all! Keemun tea in my cup, rice and miso soup beside it, and all is well in my world today. Who could ask for more?

I too like Nickolas Cage as an actor. I always felt that he was very warm and caring, even in the roles he played where that wasn't necessary. But Cage bought a pedigreed Thai Ridgeback hound from some friends while I was living in northern Thailand. They said that he was rather cold and remote during the few days they spent together... Interesting.

Anyway, no doubt he is usually a fantastic actor. Just not so much in this new movie. Not bad, just not believable. The movie moved along quickly but never develops any depth. There is one small plot twist towards the end, but it all falls somewhat flat at the finish. When it ended, I looked at my wife, she looked at me, we both shrugged our shoulders and said 'so?'
Not a 'bad' movie, but nothing to write home about.

The psychologists say that moving a home is the second most stressful event in a person's life, following behind the death of a close family
member. Having moved 27+ times (so far) in my life, I agree! Good luck, and remember, it will all work out soon.

Time for another cup of Keemun!

all the things you said above about Cage. He hasn't been good in the recent movies, but I still go to the cinema to see all of them. I'm pretty sure there is no one else that I can say the same about

Moving house is the 2nd most stressful? I've only moved about 10 times... not surprisingly, I already HATE doing so.
