I usually have to sleep it two times. And, sometimes that doesn't work and a reset is required.

No I couldn't even put mine to sleep. It had to be reset. If that was all mine did, I would have kept it. Seems like there are several different problems people are having. Some fairly easy to live with & other not so easy to live with.

I had to reset mine too. Tt stopped responding to any of the buttons, including the on/off button. There were three different crashes, quite close together, but there's been no problem in the week since then, and I'd had it for a couple of weeks with no problems before that, so it's at a level I can live with.

The thing that's a bit of an irritation in normal use is that I can't look up the last word in a paragraph in the dictionary. It selects the first word of the following paragraph as well, and if I try to drag the endpoint of the selection back to include just the word I want, it closes the book (without remembering which page I'm up to) and flashes back to the home screen. I'm reading some French books, so I'm using the dictionary a lot more often than I would for an English book.

Ever since my response to this poll and my reply on page one, i've since had 2 stuck page turning issues with my T1. Both times, I was able to press the home button and return to the home screen so the unit did not freeze. Both times, the IR touch screen stopped functioning and a reset was needed.

I have not gone through this entire thread, so I don't know if someone else has mentioned it. To me, it seems like the stuck page flipping issue is just an IR touch screen malfunction or crash. If the IR touch screen crashes during a page flip with a swipe, then the OS may interpret this as a continuous page flip since the IR touch screen is no longer telling the OS, "hey, the finger is no longer touching the screen". If this is a case then I believe this is very likely a software issue; a "driver" crash if you will. I would think this should be very fixable in a future patch. I hope Sony is working on it.

Had the T1 for a couple weeks and i'm sending it back today. Several screen-freeze issues and inadvertent rolling through pages. Only 61 books downloaded no external memory. Sony has some glitches to fix. Ordered the Kindle Fire, hopefully that works better.

In my search for the touchscreen bug, I spent about 2 hours reading using only the touchscreen tonight (however this is almost my 3rd week searching for it). When I went to make a swipe to next page, the screen seemed to freeze and wouldn't acknowledge my page turn. I tried the buttons and they worked, just the screen wouldn't take commands (highlighting or page turn).

Then I noticed my battery was on the last bar, I went to plug it in to charge, and the screen became active again and started taking commands.

I'm assuming it's a low power issue (although I didn't get a warning) rather than a full fledged bug. So now I'm wondering - how are peoples battery level when they get screen freezes..?

Tell that to all the people that had to deal with screen fade on the Vizplex devices. That was definitely a 'defective batch' even if it affected other vendors as well.

You cannot blame Sony for screens that had manufacturing defects

After two weeks of using my T1 I have finally had my first freeze. It came right, after a sleep/wakeup. I wouldn't allow me to turn it off completely. I presume if I had used the reset I would have lost everything on the T1. Is there anything that can be done so that everything is not lost with a reset.? It appears that there is no point in sending it back to Sony, as replacements have the same problems. I hope, like others, that Sony rectify the problem.

It's ok to do a reset. You won't lose everything. Otherwise, people would be even more annoyed by the issue.

Thanks for that information. I am sure I have read on this forum, that you loose everything when you do a reset. It is good to know that, that is not the case.

It depends on which model and what type of reset. If you reset by putting a paperclip into the hole in the bottom of the T1, then it will be fine.

Yes. Two weeks. The battery level is showing four bars so I guess it is pretty full.

It is the T1 and that is the reset I was interested in. Is there another type of reset?.
