Sirmaru, glad you figured it out.

Amazon is pretty clever! As a non-Prime Amazon customer, I always wait until I have $25 before placing an order so I can get free shipping. K3 borrowing

Here's how it works - step by step - from the Kindle 3:

Be careful here, as it will most likely default to the BUY button every time.

I don't have Prime, and don't really care about it one way or the other, but the new web set up where they have the $0.00 price for Prime Membership and the actual price on the 'buy' button is messing up Inkmesh.

Last five 'Free at Amazon' books I went to look at on the Inkmesh listing were actually books belonging to the Prime Membership list, and weren't really 'free' for the general Amazon shopper.

Ugh.

Exactly! I subscribed to the Prime Membership for the 2 day shipping and kept it for the video content. This, however, is delicious icing on the cake!!

I'm a UK Amazon customer and our Amazon Prime is a little different - we get free one day shipping, but none of the extra features (book library, streaming video etc.), and it's still worth it.

I notice, if one goes to their Account under Kindle Management, one can view all eBooks purchased and the lent book shows "Amazon Prime" next to it. One then can use the "Return book" option when done.

Then one can borrow another book presumably.

The only question to yet be resolved is what will happen to my notes and highlights on the borrowed book. I made one highlight. I'll check to see if it appears on the user note site.

All my other books keep all my notes and highlights here:

This page explains how Kindle Owner's Lending Library borrowing and book returns work. It also has this information:

Quote:
Bookmarks, notes, and highlights are all available on Kindle Owners' Lending Library titles, and will be saved to your Amazon.com account. Should you ever borrow or purchase the book in the future, your notes and highlights will be available for you.

I've been looking at tablets with HDMI out (which Kindle Fire doesn't have), thinking I could stream the videos onto my TV.

I realize that my question regarding tablets was slightly off-topic, so I will start another thread regarding that when I need more information.
If you have a Roku you can pick up where you left off from the Kindle Fire. The Roku is as low as $49 (that version should be out this month). So I would think about that. Plus with Roku you can get Hulu +, Netflix, Crackle Amazon and hundreds of other channels. We use it as our primary streaming device, we canceled cable several months ago and those channels are what we watch.

Anyway, just thought I'd point out the connection with the Kindle Fire and the Roku.

Thanks for the info. I am familiar with Roku's features and available content, but I didn't realize how it works with the Kindle Fire. That's interesting.

Does anyone know if you can get the Golf Channel via Roku?

For all of you who have the Kindle One like I do and the see all books does not show up under the browse selections on your Kindle One here is what I had to do to get a book from the Kindle Owners Lending Library. I used one of the links posted in the above posts to the Prime Kindle books, found the book I wanted and put it in the search line on my Kindle one. Then i was able to check the box to borrow the book.

I hope Amazon makes it so the see all books line shows up in the Kindle One.

me too, but my youngest grandchild is in kindergarten, so i kinda' ran out of qualifying purchases when the one item i'd bought the most of was removed from the qualified list - bah!

and so it goes

I buy everything from Amazon, including some grocery items. If they ever start fresh grocery delivery in my area, I may never set foot in a store again.
I hadn't though of getting grocery stuff, but since I have student prime, I may have to try it. Which makes me wonder if student prime still gets the lending library? Or is it only for regular prime members? I'm probably going to upgrade anyway, because I want the video stuff, but I haven't done it yet.

I'm a little underwhelmed by the lending library--given that it's not that many books, and probably a lot of books I would read are by publishers who are not participating in that. That said, for Prime members, it is "icing on the cake" as someone else described it, so while I certainly wouldn't get Prime just for this, I'm happy to have it as an addition.

I do find the way it is set up on the website to be annoying, though.
