Funny how no one is speculating about content. That would get the interest of those who pre-ordered the Fire. "Oooh, look! The new NOOKcolor has a quad-core dude!" NOT.

Thanks, Synergi! I really love Sugarsync. I don't know how I didn't realize there was a cloud revolution going on out there while I was oblivious! :P I know some people are wary of it, but I say bring it on.

I mean before rooting. The Nooks let you sideload books very easily using their USB interface, or MicroSD. Which is great if you want to get books from Gutenberg, Baen Books, or any other source that isn't Amazon.

Cyanogen is nice, but I haven't bothered with it yet on my Nook Color.

I see what you're saying. I did the NOOK and Kobo thing. Currently doing the Sony thing. Yes, it's great to be able to buy from several places. But, Amazon has everything and there isn't much variation on prices now. I've yet to come across a title that wasn't available on Amazon, but I routinely come across ones (non-fiction) that aren't available elsewhere.

I also remove DRM so I'm open to buying anywhere.

Certainly you/I can 'sideload' in the same manner to my K2 and I would expect to be able to do exactly the same thing with the Fire and there is no forcing the side-loaded books to act/behave differently the way they are on the Nook.

The Kindle Fire is considered a Kindle by Amazon. It appears on the Library Lending page. They also give instructions for the Fire.

This Lending Library appears to be a promotion for the Kindle Fire. Its an incentive to buy it over the new Nook Color, the iPad and the Coby.

For example, I have 85 eBooks on my Wish List but read just two books at one time. I have them all listed in an Excel Spreadsheet noting the prices and pBook pages. I choose the one to read next by sorting by the most p-pages I get per dollar I spend.

Now, if any are in the new Lending Library, those will be the first ones I read since I can get them at zero cost.

Since the Library only allows one book out at one time, I will have to just read one - not two simultaneously. Plus, they only allow one out per month. However, it takes me a long time to complete so it will probably fit my reading speed.
