PRS-T1 Just bought one - need help

I bought a T1 from the Myer store in Launceston this afternoon, and am having my usual problems setting up new software and hardware.

- Could another user from Australia remind me please how to register it in Australia
- On my PRS 650 there is the option to display all the books on the reader sorted by author's name; can this be done on a T1? If so, please tell me how
- I'm glad to see that Sony as at last enable the user to change font family; is it possible to change between justified and left aligned text?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later. Thanks in advance.

Alex,

I can only answer the second question. To display all books by the authors name, from the home screen click Books (it's in the center of the page), then click the A-Z button on the top of that page. It should bring down a pop up screen offering to sort by Date, Author, Last Read. Choose Author and boom! You're there.

about the justified or left-aligned, sorry. Something I also want.

There are also issues with, when using another font, italics showing properly. Sadly, that's made me have to modify all my ePubs: embedding Amasis as default (what I like) and changing things like justification and margins.

Thanks. But now it sorts by author's first name - even though the very same files sort by last name on my 650.

Is there a setting to fix this?

More problems

- When it goes to sleep it shows the book cover and not the Eiffel Tower, Snowy Road, or Palm Tree
- Sometimes the page number bar on the bottom of the screen is black on white - that is, no bar - and sometimes it the page number shows black on dark grey. I've no idea what causes the change to and fro
- When I changed font size by the finger movements on the screen the top margin disappeared; the text was crushed up against the top edge of the screen.

I'm really starting to think that the T1 is not quite ready for release yet.

You can point the 'Screensaver' to use the pictures directory rather than the Cover of last book read by:

Settings - System Management - Standby Screen - Type Of Image - Selected Pictures

Pinch to zoom doesn't really change the font size in e-pubs it just zooms in. That really makes it only usefull for PDFs.

I've never seen a page number 'bar'. Can you clarify what you mean?

Zooming in is what causes the bar to change color. It's a signal that the reader is not in normal mode.

To change font size, use the menu button (the button on the far right). You can also use this for cropping if your book is formatted with wide margins.

Showing the book cover as the screensaver is a feature, not a bug, but as pointed out above, you can change it to whatever you like.

When reading a book there is a message at the bottom of the screen - the message for the book I'm reading now is:

Page 171 of 289

On the reader screen the message is centred of course.

At the moment that's black text on the white background. On the PRS 650 I had (my wife has taken it over) that is a dark grey bar with the message in black. As I mentioned I have seen the black bar at the bottom of the T1 screen occasionally.

Thanks, Kate. But I've shut down the reader completely and powered up, and still don't see the bar. So far as I remember the bar wasn't there before I zoomed in. It's not a big thing, but can you suggest how I can get it back?

You can also select which pictures you want to see out of that directory too, by ticking or un-ticking as required.

The 'bar' is *normally* white with black page numbers, blending into the page.

I suppose if you *want* a dark bar across the bottom (although I have no idea why you would), just zoom in again.

Thanks, I guess I'm just used to seeing the bar as I did on the PRS 650. As you imply I have much more important problems that that.
