Even in Montreal, with those Russian and Ukranian bakeries, not to mention the Jewish ones on Main street (now St. Laurent) and Outremont, rye bread was (is ?) either the standard blond 50% rye for smoked meat, German style, the bread I mean, or that heavy black bread but with other flours inside, what one would call Russian black bread. Fantastic breads mind you. Caraway seeds? why not? I do not mind. But with porc fat and liver pathè they enter in the picture like steamed cabbage in a watercress sandwich. Noblesse oblige. |

Coke zero. Had a crappy evening yesterday, and consequently a bad night. Why can't the parents of some of my kids friends not be as nice as their children? Had a very, very disappointing conversation with a mum yesterday, she is treating us like crap and her son and mine will have to carry the consequences because "in her family, kids do not get to decide with whom they will spend their free time". Very egoistical person, and the disappointment is huge here.
Ah well, I guess it's better for him to learn there are stupid cows everywhere (was going to write chicken, but stopped myself right in time ![]() |

But what should I say with my n mothers in law. More or less the same pattern. If it might console you, Little girl's best friend has horrible parents. He a maniac, she a perfect imbecille. Soon she will start to invite friends over and want to sleep out. Blast. There is a tendency for descendants to be opposite to their parents. I have religious friends with atheist sons, and (worst) atheist friends with a maniac religious son. |

Today, one can find rye bread in some supermarkets such as Tesco, M&S but they are not 100% rye. 50% top. On a gourmet market we have a baker who has some good rye bread. This list is a close enough copy. The pictures are exactly as the bread that I buy every week. Only Pumpernickel and Hoxton Rye are 95% rye and 5% sourdough. They have German - 100% rye but it is not as tasty (TBH not even close) as ![]() or ![]() My OH loves their ![]() ![]() They also bake 100% sourdough and 100% spelt. Spelt is fantastic ![]() My brother was telling for ages to stop eating white, wholemeal breads and eat only rye bread. While some people say that eating bread is not healthy, rye bread escapes this stigma. Cuppa #7 Yorkshire Gold (10min left) |

Ahmad peach mango iced tea. Wish I had some baklava to go with it. Then again, Donut Day is Wednesday. Maybe I can wait that long. Maybe.

Back at the office. Sorry for the lack of posts but my netbook would randomly decide to move away from pages in the middle of typing responses.
I didn't take any pictures on my trip due to not bringining a camera with me. That and I worked far too much for being in Hawaii. |
