Content Special Offers for new Kindle (KSO) - Page 47

Quick question/comment: I have been getting more and more AmazonLocal deals on my KSO. Can't explain why, but these particularly annoy me, and they seem to often take precedence over other offers.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I assume there is not a way to get rid of AmazonLocal deals without getting rid of other special offers?

Why did you buy a KSO? If you don't like the offers, then pay the $30 and upgrade.

You should be able to opt out of JUST the local offers (which require you to show your Kindle to a store) on the Manage My Kindle pages. I can't actually get them, so haven't looked to see exactly how to turn them off (try changing your location to a state that isn't supported).

That's exactly what I want to be able to do. Under registered devices I can pay $30 to opt out of all special offers, but that's not what I want. There is also a "Your AmazonLocal Deals" section, but this is just a link to local.amazon.com. Interestingly, that page shows I have no subscribed cities. I suspect I might need to change my billing address.

Why not call Kindle support and ask them if it's possible to opt out of Local offers only?

I did just that and this is the response I got:

"I'm sorry currently, there is no way to unsubscribe from AmazonLocal special offers and other sponsored screensavers on your Kindle with special offers. However, I'd take this as feedback and forward to the concern team"

Which is a little confusing because you can certainly unsubscribe from other sponsored screensavers. I also tried changing my billing address, but I'm still getting ads for the old zip code. Maybe it hasn't filtered through yet. Oh well, I guess I'll just deal with it for the time being.

The 50% off cover offer has shown up but mine is for K3 covers not K4.

Anyone else with a K4SO get an offer for K3 covers instead of K4 covers?

I got K4 covers, Here's the link to the selection:

Even at 50% off none of them seem too compelling. I was hoping for a genuine Amazon cover, not something held on by elastic.

See I want the Eco-Flip cover. I've been waiting but I get K3 covers for 50% off which I already own.

According to Kindle support they are two different offers sent randomly and I just happen to get the K3 one but I may get the K4 one later. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Buy one of 100 Horror titles for $1

I didn't think I would use that one but there are a few urban fantasy and paranormal romance titles mixed in there.

I've seen those mixed in with history & mystery in the monthly books sales. Must be lost little books.

So far I have taken advantage of two books offers since I got my K4SO. I do hope for more of these type offers.

I'm still really bummed on the Cover offer but I have found out others have received the same thing too. I guess we are out of luck on this one. I don't find it fair at all!

I picked up Umberto Eco's FOUCAULT'S PENDULUM from the $1 horror sale - and that's not remotely horror, either. Some odd selections were included in the "horror" sale.

(Has a bunch of typos in it, which I knew before purchase from reviews, but for $1 I'm willing to let it slide)

Pre-ordered Eco's new (to English) book on the $1 sale last week. Hmm, sensing a trend here with $1 sales and Eco titles.

I have a $79 K4 but got an Special Offer for K3 covers. At first I was bummed out because I was looking forward to this particular Officer and thought only K3 covers were in the deal. Then I was even more bummed out when I found out there was a K4 Offer and I didn't get it.

E-mail Kindle customer service and explain the situation.

I did that earlier and they got back to me within a few hours.

Basically, they told me to order the cover I wanted from the ones offered and then e-mail them the order details and they'll honor the 50% discount after the fact. I would have preferred a simple coupon code but that'll do.
