Yea - SS is home - safe, if not well! Mr. M (and bloke) are happy! We are going to have our coldest day of our fall season tomorrow - a high of 50 F ... maybe - may stay in the 40's F - with cold, raw drizzle! [astrangerhere should be ecstatic!] |

You guys need to visit us. It was 74 when we woke up. As soon as I finish my coffee, we are going to the pool. The Weather Channel is doing stories about Ala's recovery. Today is the 6 month anniversary of the tornadoes. When we went home 3 wks ago for my eye surgery, of course we visited our ruined house. The neighborhood has been bulldozed clean, but nothing more has been done yet. Contractors are not able to meet the demand to rebuild, so it will be a while before it is alive again. |

I am! My partner hates me. Though when we got out the door at 5:30 this morning, it was still 60F, but it was dropping. The cloud cover was still thin, but it was rolling in on the rather biting breeze.

It is now down to 50 in RTP, but no rain yet. We just hit a major deadline at work and in celebration, I'm cutting out at 10, grocery shopping and going home. Hopefully i can get a nice chili going for dinner. | |

I bought a new blankie yesterday. My wife has learned a new 'while sleeping' trick of grabbing a corner of the blanket and rolling herself up into a cocoon using all of it, leaving me to shiver in the wind! As it's still not cold enough to bring out the big down quilt, I went to the home center and bought a $10 polar fleece blanket to avoid spinning her like a top if I get too cold... Stitchawl |

Actually, still being affected by Saturday's storm. Power went off at 1:30, pole transformer exploded at 1:40. Trees took down wires (in several spots) along the feed on our dead end -- and one tree took down a pole. One of the three trees we lost took down our utility lines -- and part of our roof and siding. It was about 60 degrees (F) outside today, but 47 in the house. All but one of our neighbors have gone to hotels -- as have my wife and daughter. Shadow, my German shepherd, and I have been "camping out" at home. I've been visiting for dinner and to take a shower -- and to charge up a little portable DVD player (and to use the public wi-fi). I wouldn't normally bring this up outside the Jetbook threads, but it really is very nice to be able to pop a new set of AAs into my Jetbook Lite when it runs low! We should be back up and running next week. |
