I must admit that I'm rather surprised when I look back over all the books. I hadn't thought to record the books I was reading before 2010, but I'm very glad I've done so since then.

Looking at the difference between the number of ebooks I've bought since I started buying ebooks in 2002, and the number left on my TBR pile, it seems that from 2002 to 2009, I've read, on average, 120 ebooks per year. Although probably fewer to start with, as I don't seem to have bought more than 80 ebooks in 2002...

Yes-ish. I read every post in the Dresden File thread and still participate where I can, but I've put the books on hold until the end of the year. The series is one of the 5 I want to read next year, and I'm hoping to at least buy books 4 & 5 before I start reading/rereading them again.

Just finished Wish You Were Here by Stewart O'Nan. I've been interested in his work, in large part because he's a New Englander and writes about very New England topics. WYWH was a thoroughly enjoyable read, though it's not a monumental work. Basically not much happens, but the study of the various members of a family on their last visit to their summer cottage is very well done.

On to Skippy Dies by Paul Murray. (I usually try to read several of the Man Booker long-list titles.)

But in the meantime, I'm reading Boomerang and The Big Short by Michael Lewis. Saw him interviewed on The Daily Show and if anyone can make the financial crisis interesting, it seems he can. Boomerang is really good (almost done with it) - explains how national character issues prompted and aggravated the current financial crisis here in Europe. And the parallels with what is going on in the US are pretty amazing. (He's apparently going to deal with that in the final chapter.)

I'm reading The Emperor's Knife. Newcomer Mazarkis Williams' debut fantasy with a Middle Eastern/Asian flair. It's the first book in a planned trilogy, but quite self-contained (or so I've been assured).

nope, it's not available to purchase as an ebook

sorry i didn't think of this aspect when i suggested it. this is, by the way, an urban fantasy.

On Basilisk Station by David Weber. i like space opera but somehow the Honor Harrington series always slipped by me. i've decided to collect them in paper, something about long series gives me the urge to collect and display them.

Great Series!!

Highly recommended. I've read the first 10. I plan to read the entire series, anthologies/short stories included.
