So since responding to you any of your points has become a complete waste of bandwidth (not to mention redundant, since they're all garbled versions of "you're a pirate and you're evil", I decided not to waste any more time on them. The gender part was funny, so I replied to that.

When you start acting as if you want a mature and respectful discussion, you'll get one. Until then, you'll get as little as possible.

Whatever. Apparently other people have found my posts responsive , even if they haven't agreed with them. I haven't called anyone a pirate, indeed I've repeatedly said that piracy is not the conduct DRM is aimed at deterring , casual sharing is. What's disappointing is that you haven't even attempted to understand my arguments. I guess its just easier for you to spout rhetoric than follow an argument or do research. When you start acting like you want to understand the issues, we can have a discussion then.

Hmmmm....give my friends or family members access to my account via giving them my credit card information.

Sounds like a bad idea!

I'm going to assume that these people are going to be as careful as I would? You know what happens when you assume...

You know, years ago my mother used to have my debit card information. She couldn't remember my PIN so she decided to write it on the back of the card. Problem is she lost the card. Some ass found it, went to the ATM and cleaned me out. You know what the bank said? "So sad, too bad. You aren't supposed to share your banking info so it's all on you."

So no. I do not give out my credit card information to people unless I'm buying something.

I'm just going to point you to MrsJoseph's post on why it's idiotic to share credit card info with anyone. It's not a matter of trust, it's a matter of being able to tell the bank that I did everything in my power to protect my account information, and since it got stolen anyway they now have to help me. If I didn't do my part to keep the account info safe, they have no obligation to help me anymore.

If it makes me paranoid that I think that way, then I guess I'm paranoid. And very happy to be, since that makes me a lot less likely to join the ever-growing statistic of Americans who get their identities stolen every year. I used to wonder why that number is growing so fast, when there is so much info out there on the dangers, but there are a lot of posts in this thread that explains exactly why. You trust the strangers around your friends. That's your mistake.

No, it doesn't make you paranoid, although you might be for other reasons.

Some children, or even adult family members, may not be responsible enough to properly safeguard another's credit information. My sister had her identity stolen, and it's a nightmare to fix. It can take years and still never be completely repaired.

Given the fragility of identity protection, I don't *want* my family members or friend's credit card information-I have enough trouble keeping all my personal data private and secure, why would I have to safeguard theirs as well? And vice-versa.

More convenient just to buy our own books.

Well, some of you are trying to change the argument to Identity theft and bank accounts, and credit cards, but we are just talking books here, and eReaders.

It seems that a definition needs to be reviewed.

""miserly" - unwilling to... share resources with those in need."

I got to call it the way I see it. There are people here that are miserly and proud of it! Some people see claiming to be miserly as a badge of honor!

I guess I'll just add you to the "gullible beyond belief" list and the "I'll do anything someone tells me to" list.

You're funny, a little silly and nonsensical but funny nonetheless. Can I borrow a kindle book?
