To day I had to work. I mean, not only going to the office, reading the emails, answering some, answering the phone, calling people on the phone, telling people what to do, going out to lunch, having a meeting, making a speech, asking questions, flirting with the receptionist, washing my hands and all that. This time it was actual work. I do not remember the last time I did that. I had the hard copy of the paper that I promised to review and correct, I had the pencil, but, big panic, I did not have the eraser, the most useful work implement in my trade. I have an eraser on my desk since ever, even two of them. No eraser, maybe littlegirl borrowed it the last time she came to my office. Suddenly, realizing that I did not have an eraser anymore and did not even remember the last time I used one, made me feel a walking dead, I felt obsolete, outdated, an empty shell. I felt I understood why an older colleague of mine of years ago kept a small bottle of vodka in his desk drawer (me and an other colleague found that out while we were legitimately intruding). Went next door, got an eraser and started to work. Two solid hours. Resisted going for a coffee, resisted going to scrounge a cigarette from someone. Resisted. Got a head ache, but did it.

![]() Of uncertainty I want to be In the warm hold of your loving mind. To feel you all around me And to take your hand Along the sand Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind. When sundown pales the sky I wanna hide a while Behind your smile And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find. For me to love you now Would be the sweetest thing, T'would make me sing Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind. ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygikA...eature=related ) ... it's why I ride motorcycles... I CAN catch the wind! ![]() Good morning, all. Thursday morn... a week and a day since the hospital and I go back this morning for the check-up. Feels pretty good so I'm sure the docs will put me back on full status, tell me I can ride again, etc. (I won't tell them I've been riding for the past five days...) Taylors of Harrogate's "Yorkshire" tea in my cup, to go along with thick slabs of toasted home-made bread. That should hold me till lunch! That's the same brand that they serve in Starbucks here. I don't mind their English Breakfast tea, but I can't say that I love it. [QUOTE=CRussel;1804167]I swim in my Endless Pool. ![]() Looks like great exercise! I envy your ability to swim on the surface... Drives me crazy. I always want to drop down at least two meters and swim there, but that's not nearly as balanced an exercise. OK... one more cup of tea... then hit the showers! Stitchawl |

I didn't know the system had a brand name ! We have built a "swimming against the current" pump system in our new pool, but obviously since it is outdoors, we will not be able to swim all year long. Plus I am not sure that I will enjoy this, but S surely will. Quote:

Black coffee in my cup. I slept so late today! I've had early commitments/appointments all week, and I guess just knowing I didn't have anywhere to go this morning made me oversleep. I'm not complaining, though, because usually I get up early because I just can't sleep.

Gosh, dad and mom came back wayyyyyy earlier than I'd expected! They opened the door at 3 pm, and I was dozing off with a book, some dirty bowls in the sink, a mess on kitchen table and a pile of dirty clothes...
Lucky for me, they were too tired to complain. Some water. |

It was good. Super relaxing. Thanks to my guide, every corner of Portobello Rd., was known to us. Every shop and nook was researched. Visited a couple of bakeries, left with some sweets and rye bread(for balance) ![]() Tons of antiquarian shops. Not my type but interesting.... some old, metal, rusty tea caddies £20 ![]() Stumbled upon an odd shop with tons of Ahmad tea. Some caddies I have never seen before. Didn't even know about existence of Ahmad Ceylon! Got for myself a couple of English Breakfast caddies for less than reasonable. Very unusual for England. I have to remember this shop. Lunched in a very beautiful The Elgin pub that has 20+ of gins ![]() Tried 5 or 6 ![]() When we were leaving noticed another gin that when we see it in duty free we buy it. Beefeater24. Why? Ha! ![]() Obviously, the cherry on the cake was The Chinese Tea Company. Spoiler:
The Chinese Tea Company was...a tiny 1 room shop in an arcade. The owner, a young Chinese lady was the only employee ![]() ![]() Besides the initial surprises of transformation of The Chinese Tea Company into a small tea shop and the owner who I assumed was a lady on pics on the website, but in reality was a young lady, we had a fantastic time in her company. We spent 5 hours! in the shop. Time just flew. She is a very dedicated tea lover. Too honest for a business lady, IMHO, but that's what attracted me in the first place when we exchanged emails. The shop is a very cosy place. Lots of different teas and tea ware. She loves to explain things related to the tea. She used to help her mother to grow tea in their garden at home in China. She really cares for her teas, tea quality and helping customers to understand tea. We really enjoyed tea tasting. Bought some tea for home drinking ![]() ![]() Quote:

I get what beppe is saying. I had about two years where I did not actually work at work. My bosses had no idea what they wanted us to do and we made up our own work. No one looked at it and it did nothing to help the overall mission so most of us used time at work to surf the web, job hunt, and generally goof off. I have not had that luxury the last 6 months or so. I actually work at work. Heck I am in Hawaii for work and have yet to make it into my my bathing suit.
I have managed to consume a large number of tea and made some good contacts. Happily, I have nothing scheduled for tomorrow so I am doing a four hour bus tour of the island that ends at the Polynesian center. I'll spend the day there, go to a luau, and then a great hula show. It will be nice. Saturday I have a few new locations to check out that involve some light hiking and great sights. So that will be nice. |
