Isn't it fun to throw out a non-working plan and start a new one!

^Awesome. I come up with a new plan almost daily. I've revised my 2012 reading challenge four times already and it's not even November of 2011.

As a side note, I've been trying to remember all the books I have read over the years. It's a task doomed to failure, but today I remembered Rare Birds by Edward Riche. A strange book about bird-watching, Newfoundland, and running a restaurant. It was made into a movie and the restaurant was apparently built in the parking lot of Cape Spear National Historic Site just outside of St. John's. Had me thinking about books set in Newfoundland. Annie Proulx's The Shipping News came to mind. Anyone know any other books set in Newfoundland? I grabbed The Nine Planets by Edward Riche at the library today.

LOL. I'm not giving up on series completely, just for the rest of 2011. There are far too many series I really want to either finish, start reading or reread.

Don't even get me started about 2012!! I have 5 series on the list already.

As for remembering books past...I could not come up with one title I read in 2008 ! How does someone lose a whole year?

planning beyond the next book, to me, is a waste of effort. i did plan to re-read an entire series, but during the time it took to do so, i didn't even think about what was to follow. then part way through the last book of that re-read i began considering what i might read next. but i didn't decide till i was actually done. this way works for me (except for more than a half dozen partially read books that i got distracted away from, but they're still there with bookmarks as to where i need to continue when i get around to it)

You're right. I just didn't want to go through series burnout, which as happened to me before, so I thought I'd read two or three series (switching off from one to another) instead. That has been a disaster. I'm either not fully enjoying what I'm reading or I'm forgetting details.

then allow me to recommend one that i'm sure you'll enjoy (if you'll disregard that random thing you mentioned), sacred ground by mercedes lackey

is this why we're seeing you less and less in the dresden files thread?

So far it's fun, but more for the events and situation than any attachment to any of the characters, rather like the last book of his that I read.

Paul, I've looked at the impressive number of books you've read in the last couple of years, and concluded that perhaps the next quiz thread in the Lounge could be entitled, "Hey!! Let's get some action going! What is Paul reading...today?"
