I'll probably take a look around, but I don't know how much purchasing we'll be doing.

Avoid. Like plague. The stores aren't safe. The parking lots aren't safe. The roads aren't safe. Anyone who asks me to go isn't safe.

My husband and I go every year and do 75% of our Christmas shopping. We go to my parent's house for Thanksgiving, leave the kids behind, study the ads when we get home, and head out the door around 5:00 am.

We live between three major metropolitan cities -- and avoid them all. The smaller towns close to us have the stores we want (Target, Kohl's, Best Buy, etc.) but without the huge crowds. (More like Saturday sized crowds, at 7am, and it only gets a little bigger than that. We've gone into stores that are practically empty at 9 am!)

Have you done any online shopping on BF? Also, I don't know if you're aware of it, but most of the ads are leaked online before then, giving you ample time to plan your shopping so you don't have to do so on Thanksgiving.

Last year, I did all of my BF shopping online and was finished by 4am. I then spent the rest of the weekend watching videos, visiting, and relaxing. No long lines, no crowds; it was great.

I subscribe to the BF Ads emails.

Browsing the newspaper ads is part of the ritual and a part I really enjoy. I don't like browsing online -- I usually don't have a particular item in mind and it's not much fun for me to click through pages of scans. I prefer to sit at the table with my husband and share the papers and ideas with each other.

I know we could do it together around one or two computers, but like I said, it's an annual ritual that I enjoy.

I love shopping and with a full time job and three kids, I don't do it much anymore. Going out on Black Friday is an adventure -- it doesn't even bother me to not be able to get the things I want. It would be better if I got everything I wanted, and most of the time I do, but it's no great loss if I don't either -- I can spend the next month shopping online for the things I missed.

I love the crowds. But no more camping outside the stores and midnight mall parties. I need my sleep!

I never "do" Black Friday. There is nothing in this world I need to buy badly enough to risk getting trampled to death.

Slowly I've been staying home and doing the internet thing. Last year, I did all my shopping online and plan on doing the same this year.

...
Nay, I'll be home reading on my new Kindle Fire.

I won't be on the roads -- I stock up on groceries like there's a blizzard coming so I can stay in all weekend! We have a regional shopping mall in my town and I have to avoid nearby roads because of the traffic.

I do most of my shopping online these days, but sometimes there's something I need to get at the store.

I can remember one time when I braved the crowds, though. Several years ago, on December 23rd, sitting at the breakfast table my son mused, "You know what I really want for Christmas ... ?"

(Why, no -- if it wasn't on your list I really don't! I made a last minute trip to pick up a cassette Walkman.)

It would take a crowbar, a team of wild horses, and a million dollars in bribery to get me to even CONSIDER leaving the house on that day... I'm asking for the day off work, too.

Edited to add: I'm with Steve and Kenny!!!
