A little side note: Apple was in danger of going bankrupt, and Microsoft needed Apple around, so they would not get hit any harder with the anti-trust stuff, so remember that MS bailed out Apple to the tune of billions. The fact of the matter is that all the tech companies need each other.....they just don't have to like each other. There is no monopoly on creativity. Companies just want to control it for themselves. |

I wrote that Jobs was forced out of the LISA project in 1982. First CEO of Apple was Michael Scott (1977-1981) Second was Mike Markkula (1981 -1983) Third was John Sculley formerly of PepsiCo (1983-1993) Jobs was not CEO of Apple (after IPO) until 1997

He was not a nice guy and amazingly it only took Apple 16 years to come up with preemptive multitasking wow what innovators.

"Microsoft chairman Bill Gates said today that the software giant will invest $150 million in Apple and will develop and ship future versions of its Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and development tools for the Macintosh. Both Apple and Microsoft executives denied that the Microsoft investment represents a path to converging the companies' operating systems. However, they said they had agreed to work out a settlement to a long-standing dispute over whether Microsoft's Windows operating system infringes on any of Apple's patents…" "The news, coupled with Steve Jobs's announcements of new Apple board members, pushed the company's stock up more than 40 percent in morning trading. Apple gained more than 8 points in early trading over its closing price yesterday of 19-3/4…" Those were the days

As for Jobs believing that Google "stole" its design from Apple...I would have to agree, on matter of UI design. It's pretty clear that Android did lift the user interface - even though the software is different - the aesthetics are the same. I played with a early alpha of Android before the rework several months before Apple released or announced iOS, and it was more or less a weird Blackberry and Win Mobile variant. After iOS was out, the new Android build was a complete overhaul into what you see today. Jobs and I think many people for that matter in the tech industry, are all about the aesthetics. Sure iOS and Android and WinPhone 7 do the same things, but the way you go about doing them and how it looks while doing so; are the things people notice and care about. To that degree, I can understand and relate - after all it is one reason why some people buy one thing over another. I can understand how Jobs felt and how essentially old school he was about the situation a fit of caution. After being screwed by MS, I don't think he wanted to take another chance on a repeat. Heck if anything at this point, I believe MS has more of an argument, then again they make 100s of millions off of Android without even working on it. I also believe Oracle and it's JAVA properties have some sort of case against Android at the moment. Also, Apple is 100% correct on Adobe and Flash, and everyone is following them on it, even Adobe is preparing everyone with the move to HTML5. They are offering a method of converting Flash to HTML5.
