![]() ![]() I haven't seen the Kobo Vox mentioned. Is anyone considering it? Those who have a Kobo already, is it a good company? Their ad for the Vox seems very user-friendly, and it seems you can install the amazon reader thing onto it - is that so? Seems you can read tons of books, watch movies, have music, email, social thingies, etc.... Please forgive me if these are idiot questions... ![]() |

Coby Kyros 7022-4G
On my search for a 7-inch android tablet around 200 USD, I happened on the Coby Kyros 7022-4G. It is the only model of this Coby line with a capacitive touch screen for 180 USD. I'm surprised that this particular model flys so low under the radar for tablets in this range. The model 7024, which seems most mentioned, has a resistive screen.
It can be found at Best Buy or at Toys R US. Personally, I've pre-ordered the Kindle Fire for my Mom for to read books, check email, and other media related fun. For myself, I've pre-ordered the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 because I wanted a GPS that I could use offline without having 3G or Wi-Fi. I am a map lover. Also, the SD card slot, 16 GB memory, and Android APPs made it even more appealing. For now I think a $200 7-inch device is perfect. However, I can't wait to see what is on the horizen as Android OS improves with each version, and the quad-core-and-more tablets are released in the not too distant future. Then I may get a more powerful tablet for most of my commuting computing needs such as remote computer access, etc. |

The big problem with the Coby is the poor battery life (4 hours), low screen resolution (800 x 480), and no android market/google apps (although you can hack the market in). For $20 more, the Kindle Fire or Kobo Vox are much better deals.

The best coffee in Seattle comes from those small espresso stands with bikini clad baristas. Who cares what the coffee tastes like.

I just bought a Coby 7022 from here with free shipping: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...LAID=904887687 Now I can see how it stacks up to the 7024, which I think is a great tablet per dollar. Regards - John |

800X480 is about the same resolution as the iPad's 132dpi. Actually the screen looks good and crisp. All that is needed to add the "Market" is to gather the APKs (already done for you) and install. Regards - John |

Coby 7022 vs Kindle Fire
The idea of CLOUD storage seems to be all the rage nowadays! Just store
everything online to access anywhere (as long as you have wi-fi [in very fine print]). I prefer storing myFiles on mySDcard! The Coby has the microSD slot with the capability of 32 GB storage at the tip of the finger (even with no wi-fi). The AppsLib that is available on the Coby 7022 now has Flash 10.3 available for free, as well as OfficeSuite Professional 5 for free. Another Apps APP is GetJar. One gentleman on the Best Buy Reviews easily installed Android Market and Netflix(!) on his Coby. By the way, the Kindle Fire does NOT have access to Android Market either. ![]() ![]() |

I really don't understand the Fire vs Other Tablets thing. If one doesn't care for the Amazon ecosystem and/or lack of SD card slot then they should get an open tablet. Comparing apples to oranges. Folks shouldn't make others feel like they are choosing the wrong device. Buy what you feel comfortable with. Or like some, buy the Fire and another tablet.
