I just got my T1 yesterday and had the same problem. I did a Google search and found a couple older threads here at Mobile Read where people were discussing it. Apparently ADE doesn't support the T1 yet, despite it being on the list of supported devices.

Ok, guess I'll have to read my drm-free books untill then.
Now let's hope it won't take that long.

Is it true that ADE doesn't recognize any Sony Readers?

Yes and no both. If you are a Mac user, then ADE will not recognize the Sony Readers. However, the PC version of ADE does. Many PC users prefer to use ADE directly instead of the Sony software.

Ah!!! OK, I'm a Mac user so that's why it stuck in my head. I recall that from my 900 days. Thanks!

I had to manage my entire library from my Windows XP bootcamp partition with my 505 before there was a Mac version of the Sony software!

I had the same problem with my PRS650 in that ADE wouldn't recognise it on my new Windows 7 computer. I found that even though I wanted to use ADE only and not bother with the Sony reader library I had to install the reader library software. As soon as I did that ADE recognised my PRS650 with no problems.
Hope that helps

Sadly, I had already installed the Sony software on my PC before trying to get ADE to work, and no luck. I believe that ADE doesn't actually work with the PRS-T1 at this time, but it would be nice to be wrong.

As do I, because Calibre is awesome. But I still think it would be nice to have ADE worth with the T1.

Worked fine here with XP. I found I had to install both ADE and Sony Reader Desktop to authorize the device (you can check in Settings>About>Device Info).

Once your reader is authorized with Sony (which you can do over wireless), you can download ebooks directly over wireless.

You can also used Dropbox to transfer books from your computer to your reader over wireless.

So I just double-checked everything again, and ADE just doesn't recognize the T1 on my computer. I'm running Windows 7 and I have both the latest versions of the Sony desktop software and ADE installed. My T1 is listed on my account in the Sony software along with my other Sony readers and my computer.

Not that I'm relying on ADE for my eBooks. But one of the reasons I wanted to go with another Sony when buying a new reader was the flexibility ADE is supposed to provide when choosing a place to get books. It would be nice if I could get it to work.
