I am really hoping that organizing book collections in my own way (folders, series etc) is integrated into the KT, along with everyone else.

However, I find it much easier to actually locate a book (and I have hundreds on my KT) at least using the search feature. It used to be a pain in the keester to page through hundreds to get to the book of my choice on the older kobo wifi I used to have.

I have not been able to test the "fix" for this because I do not have the problem. In fact, no one in the beta group did, but apparently the fix is in 1.9.13. We're testing that release now.

Well, I'd argue that you *can* psuedo-hand-sort all your books, and traverse them fairly easily... any time I have books that are in a series, I rename the file to something like "Dresden 01 Storm Front.ePub" and set the title to, "Dresden 01: Storm Front" That way, when I go look at books in my library, all of the books in the same series are grouped together, and in order. That, and I have a separate folder on the disk for each author, and is working well enough for the 500+ books I have on my KT right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to additional functionality too! Although I could really care less about sorting, I would be very interested in filters - show me *only* books from author X, or in series Y, etc., until I tell you otherwise. Lists are a bit more problematic - when I first got the KT, I tried using the favorites list, but on device it is fairly slow to add/remove books from it, and I'm not a fan of the Kobo Desktop or Calibre Desktop tools (love the calibre command line tools, though!). Ah, well, need to figure out how to do this by making updates to the database, I guess

I'm actually having a slight issue since uploading the reader to 1.9.11 and it's still showing in the FW 1.9.12.
When I turn the Kobo off (not in Sleep mode) and it brings me back to the home screen, the touchscreen takes some seconds to become actually responsive.
This wasn't happening with previous FW versions but it's happening now in my reader.
I'd like to think that the issue is actually in the firmware and not in my reader, but I can't confirm that that's the case.
Is someone else having this problem when restarting the Kobo Touch?

I was thrilled to see another update so quickly, and am also happy to see the comments made in this thread by Sameer. The only interface bugs I can find are minor and have been mentioned already (most noticeably, shortlisted books show both add to shortlist and remove from shortlist as menu options). Despite all the new features introduced in the last two firmware updates, I'd say I'm happiest about the cut off text bug being fixed in the previous release. Having to fiddle with the text settings all the time was stealing precious reading time, and I certainly don't miss that bug.

I like the new touch screen options, and I would echo the request of another poster who asked for tap anywhere (except the bottom middle of the screen) to go forward, and swipe to go back. I understand this might be hard to explain to users with a simple diagram, so we may never see it, but one can dream.

One other nice addition I noticed which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is that when adding new sideloaded content, the KT now shows a percent progress when loading the content. This is when loading content via USB, but I'm assuming an SD card would work similarly. I don't remember seeing a progress indicator before this update.

Has anyone else seen this? Will it go away after another upgrade?
I upgraded to 1.9.12 a few days ago. I had this "soft reset" happen once on upgrade day, it's been fine since. I inadvertently toggled the power switch twice in quick succession with the KT on, and from what I recall the screen on the reader went completely blank (white). The double-power was because I was going into sleep mode then changed my mind and decided to power the unit off, so I hit power again while it was entering sleep mode. I was able to power the KT on again with no problems, but was given the language selection, setup, etc.

I had to update nearly all of my settings, i.e. browser favorites/homepage, font settings, sleep/power preferences, etc. I think the only thing that it remembered was saved wireless networks. All my books and data were still there though.

This has happened to me twice - once a few weeks ago (1.9.11) - I had done the same thing with the power switch and then the Touch froze with a white screen and again just today (1.9.12). Today's was weird because somehow I managed to select a word (I guess my finger must have been resting on the screen while I was reading) and then the Touch just froze. Putting it into sleep mode and then waking didn't help - I had to turn it off and then back on. Once I went through all the setup procedure (and reset all my settings) all was OK again. Weird.

Waiting on that feature and the ability to create custom categories.

Since updating last Friday Oct 14, I noticed that CBR/CBZ files I have did not work.
When I view them they display blank pages.
I tried deleting them from my kobo/sd card and reloading them.
But now the kobo does not recognize them at all. They do not appear in my library anymore.

In the mean time is there a way to downgrade so I can read CBR files?

thanks.

.cbz archives work fine here. Don't have any .cbr archives to test, though.

Any chance of getting notes and highlights working for sideloaded books? These don't need to sync, just flag them to be stored locally. I don't doubt Kobo devs are aware, but it really has been annoying me of late.

No real issues to report with this upgrade.

I, too, have had this happen. Three times now. It has happened during a "normal" power off, no double slide of the power switch. Fonts, bookmarks, etc. had to be reset each time.

The KT is still unable to rebuild it's database... (if say, someone were to delete it, as an example). I think it's a little ridiculous that the kobo can't bootstrap itself from a wipe without a factory reset... (Although, admitely, the factory reset from a innaccessible backup copy is well designed.)
