Thanks for all of your good advice. Having now played with Calibre a bit I have realised how easy it is to add a column. Therefore I now have a column with a "yes / no" dropdown that I can use.

I'm also using a "read" category on my actual Kindle but am still deciding if I want a read category for each of my other categories (mystery, biographies etc) or just one big read category. |

Mark as read, as a means to quantify how many books you've finished reading .. on the Kindle. Then, compute the costs associated with adopting the technology.

I've added a 'Read' tag to the book in Calibre, which means I can easily look through the list of books I've read by selecting that tag. However, I'd also like to be able to have the option of showing all my books listed in Calibre minus the ones I've read, is there an easy way to do that?

Mostly I just delete books off the Kindle when I'm finished them, but if it's one I've particularly enjoyed, I'll add it to a 'Read' collection. However, there are only about four books I've ever purposely re-read and would probably read again in future, and as I have the paperbacks, don't see much point in having them as ebooks too. |

I get rid of books that I think are a waste of time. I recently bought an historical novel because I went into a bookshop and spoke to the author who was doing a book-signing. She persuaded me that I might enjoy a particular book so I bought the Kindle edition. In the event, by the time I'd read 30% I realised that it was decidedly not for me, so I deleted it from the Kindle. If it had been a dt book, I'd have given it away or thrown it out. If I read a book and really like it OTOH I might well want to reread it or look up something in it, so I really appreciate being able to carry it around along with unread books. |
