Thanks for the congratulations. It's very odd - lots of power, and no idea how to use it properly .

I'm sure the presentation will go well. But do rehearse it fully, as if you were actually giving it, perhaps this evening? That will catch any problems with wording (sometimes things are easy to write but very hard to actually speak), and will also make sure you have the length right.

Milk to go with toast made from the homemade wheat bread I made yesterday.

The Milk is milk. The bread is yummy. I a great deal more dense then then whole wheat one buys at the store.

So many posts, so many comments, not enough time though...

Try ray bread if you find it.
Only the real one. From bakery, not a mass production.
Either 100% or 95% ray.

I went to the American Center this afternoon to visit its library. Really, Stitchawl, you Americans know how to exaggerate things! All kinds of metal detectors and visitor cards and security guards? For a library!

In Français Institut readers don't have to clip on any ID card, no lockers (just bring all the laptops and backpacks and materials in!), free parking lot, no detector whatsoever, and still there has been no terrorist checking in so far!

@ Iri: Just convince yourself you know ALL about that topic/field/aspect. Imagine you're the prof and they're students. That certainly helps.

Ah, no. You know, French is the second-most learned foreign language after all

I forgot to mention that the library of the Americans also has the heaviest doors I've ever used! I'm not surprised if they're all bullet-proof glass and radiation-shielding steel - they must be 5-inch thick. Look like the terrorists should need a tank to break in!

Makes perfect sense to me! Everyone wants our books! We have to protect them! You should see what we have to go through to get into clothing stores! It's incredible!

(Saigon...April 29, 1975... American Embassy...They didn't have enough security. Doors not thick enough either. Maybe they are just being a bit over protective now?)

Perhaps I should have another glass of Bombay Sapphire...

^Gin is the devil's work.

That's probably the one too many gin and tonics at one too many weddings speaking.

When I go to London in two weeks time, we are going to visit a pub that offers 24 types of gin. She is very curious. I hope she will be able to walk on her own to The Chinese Tea Company tea tasting. Otherwise I will be nacked by the time we arrive and have to drink double of each tea

A mug of Lapacho.

Now, I seriously doubt that.... What is the first one ? I'd say English, and then after Spanish. And I don't mean as a first language, I mean as a foreign language. The Americans choose Spanish, the Europeans choose English. You'd have to be nuts to choose French nowadays...

I hate gin. I have terrible memories with gin. Biggest stupidities ever were done by Beautiful French Woman () under the influence of said gin. Gin does not suit me at all.
