No, the usb cable that comes with it will NOT plug into a USB converter in AC power. I tried that and then looked it up in the user manual. There is a separate plug that is sold at the SonyStore that is used. It comes with the adapter that plugs into the AC power, and is, I assume from the picture, a standard USB plug. The question would then be, can this separate purchase plug, be used to plug into a computer for the downloads? And is it the same plug that has come with the previous versions of Sony Readers? I recently discovered there are power strips which have USB outlets.

I'll try it on one of my adapters from my other readers as soon as my battery is down again. But the usb power plug I have has been working on my other two readers, and it didn't work on the T1 with the supplied cable when my battery was down low. I'll keep trying though. AJ |

Not all chargers are created equal, unfortunately. So while a charger has a USB port on it, it won't always charge all devices that charge over USB. I am not even sure what minor detail in the device and charger cause the incompatibility. I've got a dual-USB charger that only charges a couple of things, but my iPhone charger seems to handle everything. |

I checked out one of the larger stores here in Omaha, the Nebraska Furniture Mart, and they do carry the specific cord, so if I can't do anything else, I can go buy it. (Fortunately, as my son works there he can get it at emplyee pricing. ) |

The cord is not any different, just the charger wall-wart itself.

Hm. I have a mini-USB charger for a pair of bluetooth headphones I was planning to use on the T1. I hope it works. |

No need to be sorry. I was worried you wouldn't have the right charger. I'm glad you do. |

The headphone charger worked just fine. Good, because I didn't want to have to buy another one. |

The ironic thing is the Sony charger costs $25, but the headphones cost $34 and they come with the charger. They're nice headphones, too. |
