Question about series_index, and related column type

I only recently realized that you can use decimals in the series index (and in all custom columns modeled on series-type information). I was just wondering if there was an option somewhere in Preferences or elsewhere that allows me to remove trailing zeros in the series index. For example I would prefer that "Some Series [3.10]" displayed "Some Series [3.1]", only showing the hundredths place digit if there were an actual number ("Some Series [3.11]"). Or is there a specific reason (sorting related, or something) why there needs to be a trailing zero?

Now that you mention it, I don't remember when this behavior began, but:

I Like IT this way. Less jaggy, Just like a Price column. $2.5 is the same as $2.50 but we never write it that way

There is no way to change how the series indices are displayed on the library view.

Thanks, chaley. I'd been pretty thorough in checking all the usual menus, but I just wanted confirmation from someone who knew.
