There is more contrast on the T1 compared to the 950/350, and I don't believe it is font choice. Certainly there are many fonts which improve the 950 reading experience better than the Sony default. I use alternative fonts with my 950 too. However, if you compare a book with an embedded font, then the text is much darker on the T1. It's really nice! The pinch and zoom and custom crop is cool too. The browser is much improved, and I love the ability to download and have landscape mode.

I still prefer my 950 for the 7" screen. I also like the old Sony software better. I think of the T1 as a complement to the 950 rather than an upgrade. It is something that I can more easily take out with me and not have to worry about damaging my 950 since it is no longer replaceable.

Since this thread compares the 950 with the T1, I hope I won't be off topic if I ask you guys if you find PDF page turns on the T1 to be slower than PDF turns on the 950.

Any takers?

That is exactly why I want a T-1 in addition to my 950, you said it well!

I love my pink 350 for portability, but I would really like to take advantage of the sync across any device feature. Take my T1 out for coffee or a lunch break and then be able to sync my bookmarks and notes back to my 950 for reading once I'm back at home. That would be excellent!

To my eye the thickness of the font looks the same, comparing Original to Original font. Which I like, because I don't care for an overly heavy font. The text just seems darker and the background screen a tad brighter, without making the font thicker.

It should be noted that as it is hubby's reader, I haven't actually been reading on it, just played with it some before giving it to him. But I compared the two again just before writing this.

Also, just as an aside, I've seen people complained that the 7 in screen is too narrow. But aren't all 7 in screens (in Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab, Nook Color) all the same size? There aren't any 4:3 7 in screens out there are there?
Folks who are complaining the 7" screen is too narrow probably just want a different ratio between length and width. The 950's 7" screen is 600 pixels wide. The T-1's 6" screen is 600 pixels wide. The resolution on the 950 is the same as Nook Color and probably the other 7" screens you mention as well. (600 x 1024 pixels) I guess it's a case of either one likes the size and screen ratio or one doesn't.

For plain old reading, the 7" screen gives you a page of text that is very comparable to a paperback page. I like it a lot, because it cuts down on page turning. I feel more involved in my reading.

Now, for landscape reading, I'd probably prefer a little more width, but honestly, I rarely read in landscape orientation, nor do I read PDFs often. For those applications, wider might be nicer.
