I like both the white and red models, but I think I'll get the red next week when my local store gets them in.

Doesn't seem to be the case. Might just be the one book so I will try other books - problem is it is random. I tried a free ePub book last night and couldn't get it to freeze.

@Walk0080, yes, i got my T1 last night and it froze on me twize due to the pages changing randomly, getting stuck. I turned mine off completely and immediately turned it back on with no issues.
I cannot find the PC Reader library, where is it? On the Sony site? |

Soooo, I got my T1 last night at Target, which doesn't advertise they even carry it.
Anywho, Don't like it much. Keep in mind, I AM a Sony fan as I have had the 300 and currently have the 600, 950, 350 and now the T1 and have bought many for gifts. I do not like the glossy look of the black plastic. I do not like that there is no Reader software with the Reader. I do not like that the old Reader software will not recognize the T1, nor will ADE, nor Calibre and I upgraded to the newest Calibre software to make sure. I did not like the page freezes. I do not like the new button assignment, nor do I like the power button, which is small. being on the bottom of the reader. I had to load my books from the PC, from the folder they were in by copying them onto the reader/drive itself. Then I had to go to the reader folder and copy the books into the appropriate folder on the T1. Time consuming and doesn't allow for Collections, unless you specifically do it on the reader (time consuming). I do like the instant recovery when you eject the reader from the PC as well as the instantaneous download of book from the Sony Book store. Set up was easy. The T1 is sooo light. I will be returning mine if I cannot get the new Reader software, which is supposed to give the option to port your books for the old software. Also, if Calibre cannot recognize the T1. The screen freezing, not an option. Although there have been other complaints of the same issue. I will see if my finger may have lain on the page, however, I doubt it as I have used these readers too long to know better. Where can I get this PRS+ software update? |

You do not have to place books that you copy over directly in sub-directories, that is only for your convenience. PRS+ does not run on the T1, it uses a completely different operating system. The beta version of Calibre works but is not complete, although the code has been written, it needs to be tested and vetted. Should be released soon. When you connect the T1 to your computer there are 2 drives. One stores your media and the other contains the new Reader software... as always, it is not very good or stable. |

I just received my white reader with a black case. I think that that looks really snazzy. Other than that I have VERY mixed emotions about the reader. It pretty definitely will not read .lrf files, which was my main reason for buying it. But I do like the size and weight VERY much. It feels MUCH better than my Nook Touch. I have not figured how to transfer files to the SD card as the file structure that the reader puts on the card when you plug it in looks very bare and I do not see just where to put the files. I have always put files on a reader by just moving them from a directory on the PC to a directory on the reader. When I plug the reader in, I get a bunch of pseudo-disks which I have not figured out yet. The SD card comes up as F:, with a rather bare tree. The reader itself comes up as M: with the expected recognizable tree. Then there is an L: pseudo-drive with files that seem to be about setting up the reader for a Mac. Since I am a PC person, I figure that I can ignore that, but I am still mystified about the infrastructure on the SD card and where I should put the book files. Probably a lot more to say, but that's it for the moment.

[SD drive:]\Sony_Reader\media\books Unlike earlier Sonys the PRS-T1 will only read EPUB, PDF and TXT. |

It sounds as if Calibre must have created the directory first, before copying the first book. Calibre may have chosen this structure because it's the same as the one used by default in internal memory. There is no reason why you can't do the same. Manually create the media\books subdirectories under the f:\Sony_Reader directory, using your File Explorer program whilst the T1 is connected to the PC. Although based on what log said above, maybe you can create any directory you want and copy the books there. It sounds as if the Sony will find them whereever you put them. However, I would avoid putting books in any existing directories which contain other files, because those may well be Sony system files. |

Mine seems to have broken. Less than 24 hours after getting it I've had "Sorry! The Application Reader has stopped Unexpectedly. Please try again. (Force Close). This is happening every time I close a book, It is not saving my page or the last book I read since 18.16 today, and I can't dowload or sync anything new to it. Has anybody else got this problem? The european tech support website doen't even have the T1 listed which isn't helpful.
