For shame... for shame.... ![]() There are four 'main' Black teas... Keemun, Darjeeling, Assam, and Ceylon. Within each of these main types there are many sub-varieties. Uva is THE best of the Ceylon teas. High grown Uva is the best of the best! Grown in the Uva district, Eastern Sri Lanka, it has larger leaves, does best with very hot water and 4-5 minutes steep times. You have mastered the Green teas, Grasshopper. It's time to learn more of the Blacks! Stitchawl |

I agree... to a point. I believe that most of the generic 'hotel teas' such as Lipton, Salada, Red Rose, etc., are made from the orange pekoe and pekoe cut black grades of the lower grown Ceylons. But once you start going up the hill (about 2,000 meters,) and get teas harvested between June and September, the tea develops flavors not even suggested by its cousins in the valleys below. Trust me... ![]() Try it. You'll like it. ![]() Stitchawl |

2nd mug of decaf coffee.
After a number of palpitations, lack of sleep and general shakes in the evening, I have decided to go cold-turkey on normal coffee, and have only been drinking decaffeinated for the last 3 weeks. After initial bad headaches (not surprising, as I've been drinking huge quantities of the stuff for about a hundred years), I am finding I am feeling a lot better (no evening shakes). Main problem now is that I do fall asleep at the drop of a hat, and keep missing the end of TV programmes and films... |

Are you avoiding all caffeine or can you slip in a mug or two of good tea? Tea has less caffeine then coffee so you can get a bit of a caffeine fix. Or try a rooibos or Yerba Matte. Rooibos has non-caffeine based stimulants and Yerba Matte has some caffeine but other stimulants that somehoe balance out the caffeine. |
